Objective:1.To explore the distribution of TCM constitution in patients with carotid atherosclerosis;2.To explore the relationship between the TCM constitution type of carotid atherosclerosis and the level of homocysteine.Methods:According to the 4th edition of Ultrasound Medicine,taking carotid intima-media thickness(IMT)≥ 1.0mm or atherosclerotic plaque as the criteria,150 patients who met the diagnostic criteria of carotid atherosclerosis were selected from Cangzhou Hospital of Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine in Hebei Province.According to the Classification and Judgment Table of TCM Constitution proposed by Professor Wang Qi,the identification of TCM constitution is divided into nine types: the quality of peace,the quality of qi deficiency,the quality of yang deficiency,the quality of yin deficiency,the quality of phlegm and dampness,the quality of damp-heat,the quality of blood stasis,the quality of qi stagnation and the quality of intrinsic quality.General data,body mass index,homocysteine,C-reactive protein,blood lipids,etc.of patients were collected.The sorted data were entered into the database and statistically analyzed with SPSS26.0 software..Results:1.A total of 150 cases were included,including 72 males and 78 females.The included age range is 36~85 years old(56.19 ± 6.10 years old).2.Among the 150 patients with carotid atherosclerosis,41 were phlegm-dampness,accounting for 27.3%,35 were damp-heat,accounting for23.3%,25 were qi deficiency,accounting for 16.7%,19 were blood stasis,accounting for 12.7%,12 were yin deficiency,accounting for 8.00%,9 were yang deficiency,accounting for 6.00%,6 were qi stagnation,accounting for4.00%,3 were calm,accounting for 2.00%,and 0 were intrinsic,accounting for 0.00%.3.The difference of Hcy level between different constitutions was statistically significant(P<0.01).The level of serum Hcy in phlegm-dampness group was higher than that in damp-heat group,qi-deficiency group and blood-stasis group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.There were significant differences(P<0.01)in BMI between different body conditions,with 64 total overweight individuals and 53.3% of total overweight individuals,of which sputum dampness had the highest BMI level with an overweight ratio of 68.3% and Qi dampness had the lowest BMI level with an overweight ratio of 16%.5.CRP levels were significantly different among different body conditions(P<0.01),and the dampness group had higher CRP levels than the other body conditions,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).6.There were statistically differences(P<0.05)in TG levels among different constitutions,but there was no statistically significant difference in TC and LDL-C levels(P>0.05).The level of TG is the highest in humid and hot constitutions.Conclusions:1.The TCM constitution of patients with carotid atherosclerosis is dominated by phlegm dampness,dampness and heat,Qi deficiency and blood stasis,and phlegm dampness accounts for the most part.2.Sputum wet carotid atherosclerosis patients have higher levels of homocysteine and body mass index than other constitutional types.3.C-reactive protein levels are higher in patients with hot and humid carotid atherosclerosis than in those with other constitutional types.
