Chinese Version And Quality Test Of The Comfort With Communication In Palliative And End-of-Life Care Instrument

Objective:To translate and revise the Comfort with Communication in Palliative and End-of-Life Care(C-COPE)instrument into Chinese,and to test its reliability and validity in Chinese medical staff.Methods:After obtaining the authorization of the author of the source scale,the translation,back translation,cross-cultural debugging,and pre-survey of the English scale were carried out using the cross-cultural debugging guide to form the Chinese version of the C-COPE scale.The convenience sampling method was used to select 527 medical workers from 3 tertiary grade A hospitals in Hebei Province as research objects,and 30 medical workers were selected for repeated measurement 2 weeks later.The general data questionnaire and the Chinese version of C-COPE were used for the questionnaire survey,and the quality of the Chinese version was tested by item analysis,validity analysis,and reliability analysis.Results:The Chinese version of the C-COPE scale has 26 items and 6dimensions.CR values of each item on the scale ranged from 6.905 to12.971.The correlation coefficient between the score of each item and the total score of the scale was 0.475～0.653(P<0.05).A total of 6 factors were extracted from exploratory factor analysis,which was named team consideration,processing medical decision,spiritual consideration,processing symptoms,prudent awareness,and cultural consideration.The cumulative variance contribution rate was 80.349%.The fitting index results of the confirmatory factor analysis model were as follows: χ~2/df=2.563,RMSEA=0.085,RMR=0.040,NFI=0.879,GFI=0.824,IFI=0.923,TLI=0.908,CFI=0.922.The level content validity index(I-CVI)of each item of the scale was 0.86～1,the level content validity index(S-CVI/UA)of the uniform scale was 0.84,and the average level content validity index(S-CVI/Ave)was 0.98.The Cronbach’s α coefficient of internal consistency reliability was 0.910,and the Cronbach’s α coefficients of 6 factors were0.937,0.913,0.941,0.934,0.865,0.870,respectively.The retest reliability was 0.869.Conclusions:The Chinese version of C-COPE has good reliability and validity,including 26 items and 6 dimensions.It can be used as an effective tool to measure the level of communication comfort of hospice care for medical staff in China.
