Objective: Application of quantitative indicators to establish cervical age equations for adolescent and children in Xinjiang Urumqi,providing a reliable basis for orthodontic clinical diagnosis and orthodontic treatment planning.Method: Select 666 lateral cephalometric exposure programs of normal adolescents aged 5-16 years including 320 males with an average age of(10.76 ± 2.62)and 346 females with an average age of(11.22±2.52).Measure and analyze the anteroposterior length of the fourth cervical vertebra to get the ratio of that.Formulate the equation of cervical vertebral bone age based on the fourth cervical vertebra Vba by multiple linear regression.Use Pearson correlation analysis to calculate the correlation between bone age and life age by the regression equation.Result:1.The equations for calculating cervical vertebral bone age from measurements of each of the third and fourth cervical vertebrae were: Bone age equation for the third cervical vertebra in males was y=-1.178+15.945×3AH/PH,in females was y=-3.112+18.330×3AH/PH;the bone age equation of the fourth cervical vertebra in males was y=-1.245+16.199×4AH/PH,in females was y=-2.572+18.024×4AH/PH;the bone age equations of the third and fourth cervical vertebrae in males was y=-1.679+7.410×3AH/PH+9.298×4AH/PH,in males was y=-4.001+7.836×3AH/PH+11.884×4AH/PH.2.Cervical vertebral age was significantly correlated with living age in both male and female adolescents,but the correlation between fourth cervical vertebral age and living age was slightly stronger than the correlation between third cervical vertebral age and living age.When the third and fourth cervical vertebrae were evaluated together,the highest correlation between cervical vertebral bone age and living age was found.Conclusion: The Age of Han nationality adolescents in Xinjiang is correlated with the bone age of the fourth cervical vertebra.Hence,during the period of orthodontic clinical judgment and prediction of the growth and development about adolescents and children,the fourth cervical vertebra is preferred for identification,while the combination of the third cervical vertebra and the fourth cervical vertebra is the most accurate.
