| The important symbol of a prosperous nation and a prosperous country is people’s health.Medical resources are the important foundation of the health service system, and also the important guarantee of providing medical and health services for the people and improving the people’s health level. In 2022,General Secretary Xi Jinping pointed out in the report of the 20 th National Congress that although China has made remarkable achievements and undergone historic changes in recent years, there are still problems and difficulties to be solved, such as the problem of unbalanced and inadequate development.Specifically,in the field of medical and health care, the unbalanced and inadequate development is mainly reflected in the fact that although the total amount of medical and health resources is increasing, the allocation of resources is unbalanced, especially high-quality medical resources, which flow more to economi-cally developed regions. The unequal allocation of medical resources makes the operation of the medical and health system inefficient. Therefore, promoting the equal allocation of medical and health resources is a key livelihood issue that the Chinese government needs to solve. At the same time,China’s economy is shifting from high-speed growth to high-quality development, which also means that the government should optimize the allocation of resources to achieve balanced economic development.Adequate and good medical and health services not only provide residents with good quality of life and welfare benefits, but also promote the development of regional economy. On the contrary,if residents do not have access to good services,it may lead to social exclusion and even political conflict. Therefore,it is of great significance and value to study the equality of medical resource allocation and its impact on economic growth.Based on relevant economic theories and in combination with China’s actual conditions, this paper first makes a theoretical analysis of the mechanism that the equalization of medical and health resources affects economic growth, and then uses the Theil index to calculate the current situation of medical resources allocation in 30 provinces in China from 2010 to 2019.The data shows that the Theil index of the allocation of medical and health resources calculated by population in each province and city is decreasing year by year, but the fluctuation is not large,it shows that the government should make more efforts. Then, this paper uses the two-way fixed effect model of dynamic panel to verify whether the equal allocation of medical and health resources will have an impact on economic growth;and if there is an impact, the relationship between them is linear or nonlinear. The study found that the equal allocation of medical resources has a very significant role in the growth of national economy, and this effect is in an inverted U-shaped relationship of first promoting and then inhibiting. Then, this paper proves the robustness of the dynamic model by replacing the explained variables and introducing control variables. Finally,a threshold model was established to prove that there is a threshold value for the impact of equal allocation of medical resources on economic growth, and it is further proved that there is an inverted U-shaped relationship between them. What’s more, the threshold value shows obvious regional differences. In the central and western regions with relatively low economic development level, the balance point of medical resource allocation is low or skewed to the left, while in the eastern regions with relatively high economic development level, the balance point of medical resource allocation is high or skewed to the right.Based on the research conclusion, this paper gives some countermeasures and suggestions at the end. |
