| Objective : The aim of this study is to elucidate the prevalence of mild cognitive impairment(MCI)in the community-based elderly population aged 60 years and above in Liaoning Province, and to clarify its influencing factors and priorities,so as to provide a scientific reference for geriatric health promotion. Methods:A cross-sectional study was used in this study. From June to October 2019,a total of 4101 individuals aged 60 years and older in the community in Liaoning Province were selected for the study using a multistage stratified whole-group random sampling method in Liaoning Province, excluding samples with missing or abnormal data, and a total of 3695 individuals were included in the analysis. The study included three aspects:general demographic information, lifestyle and physical disease status.Cognitive function was determined simultaneously using two combined scales, the ascertain dementia 8 and the mini-mental state examination(MMSE).The IBM SPSS23.0 software was used for statistical analysis of the data. The cardinality test was used to analyze the relationship between MCI prevalence and different demographic characteristics, lifestyle and basic physical condition, and multi-factor logistic regression analysis was used to analyze the factors associated with MCI.Results:The prevalence of MCI in the community-based elderly population aged 60 years and older in Liaoning Province was 12.94 %,and the standardized prevalence was 13.32 %.The results of multifactorial logistic regression analysis showed that depression had the strongest effect on MCI in older adults(OR = 2.686,P < 0.05).In addition, history of falls(OR = 1.935,P < 0.05),smoking(OR = 1.492,P<0.05),age(70-79 years: OR = 1.326,P<0.05;80 years and older: OR = 1.304,P < 0.05),playing mahjong(OR = 0.680,P <0.05),reading books and newspapers(OR = 0.502,P < 0.05),use of cell phone(OR =0.476,P < 0.05),and literacy(primary school: OR = 0.382,P < 0.05;junior high school or above: OR = 0.564,P < 0.05)were significantly associated with MCI.Conclusion:This study showed that MCI levels were low in community-dwelling older adults aged 60 years and older in Liaoning Province. In this study, depression was the most critical factor affecting MCI.In addition, paying special attention to elderly people of advanced age and low literacy, preventing falls, encouraging active participation in leisure activities, and forming healthy habits can help improve the cognitive health of the elderly, thus reducing the prevalence of MCI in the elderly. |
