Objective: The purpose of this study is to test the reliability and validity of Bariatric Surgery Self-management Questionnaire(BSSQ)for postoperative metabolic bariatric surgery patients in China,so as to provide a reliable evaluation tool for the measurement of self-management ability of patients after metabolic bariatric surgery. Methods: With the authorization of the original author, the scale was translated, synthesized, translated back and consulted by experts in strict accordance with the cross-cultural adjustment process guidelines recommended by the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Evidence Based Medicine Committee, and the initial Chinese version of BSSQ was formed. The convenience sampling method was used to investigate 15 patients after metabolic bariatric surgery who were followed up from May to August 2022 in the outpatient department of metabolic bariatric surgery of a tertiary A general hospital in Shenyang for pre-investigation,and the Chinese version of BSSQ was finally formed.227 patients after metabolic bariatric surgery were selected as the study subjects for questionnaire survey to test the reliability and validity of the scale.SPSS 26.0 was used for statistical analysis.Content validity, structure validity and convergent validity were used to evaluate the validity of the Chinese version of BSSQ,and internal consistency reliability and retest reliability were used to evaluate the reliability.P < 0.05 was considered to be statistically significant. Results: The Chinese version of BSSQ includes 9 dimensions with a total of 32 items. The total scale scores of 227 patients after metabolic bariatric surgery in this study ranged from10 to 73,and the median(interquartile spacing)was 36(17)points.The item-level content validity index is between 0.833 and 1,and the scale level content validity index is 0.970.Exploratory factor analysis resulted in a 9-factor structure, explaining 60.314% of the total variance. The score of Chinese version of BSSQ was positively correlated with GSES score(r=0.329,P<0.001).The Cronbach’s α coefficient for the total BSSQ score was 0.867,and 0.420~0.813 for each dimension. The retest reliability for the total BSSQ score was0.885,and 0.766~0.982 for each dimension. Conclusion: The Chinese version of BSSQ has good reliability and validity, and it can be used as a tool to evaluate self-management ability of patients after metabolic bariatric surgery in China. |
