| Objective:To investigate the current situation of benefit discovery among patients undergoing radiotherapy for head and neck cancer, analyze its influencing factors, and provide a basis for clinical and nursing staff to understand the psychological status of patients undergoing radiotherapy for head and neck cancer, identify patients with low benefit level and formulate practical and effective intervention measures. Methods:The study type of this study was a cross-sectional study, and a convenience sampling method was used to investigate 203 head and neck cancer patients in the radiotherapy department of the First Hospital of China Medical University from October 2021 to July 2022 using the Benefit Finding Scale, the General Information Questionnaire, the Cancer Patient Needs Assessment Questionnaire, and the Medical Coping Modality Questionnaire.EpiData 3.1 software was used for data verification and entry, and SPSS version 22.0 was used for statistical processing and analysis of the data. The demographic and disease information of head and neck cancer radiotherapy patients were analyzed descriptively by frequency and percentage, and the disease benefit perception scores of head and neck cancer radiotherapy patients were analyzed descriptively by mean ±standard deviation;the correlation analysis among the variables of benefit finding, cancer patient need status, and medical coping style of head and neck cancer radiotherapy patients were analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis, and univariate analysis and multiple linear stepwise regression methods were used Factors influencing the perception of disease benefit in patients treated with radiotherapy for head and neck cancer were analyzed.Results:1.A total of 209 questionnaires were distributed in this study, and 203 valid questionnaires were returned, with a valid return rate of 97.1%.Benefit finding scores for patients undergoing radiotherapy for head and neck cancer:total score(50.71 ± 14.54);The scores for each dimensional entry were acceptance(2.67±0.98),family relationships(3.00± 1.11),worldview(1.76±0.74),personal growth(1.94±0.79),social relationships(2.93±0.98),and health behaviors(2.42± 1.10).2.The results of univariate analysis showed statistically significant effects of age, duration of radiotherapy, treatment modality, frequency of exercise,self-care ability and nutritional status BMI on benefit findings in patients treated with radiotherapy for head and neck cancer(P<0.05).3.The results of the correlation analysis showed that the benefit finding was positively correlated with the total score of personal needs of cancer patients(r=0.307,P<0.001),the confrontation dimension of medical coping style(r=0.389,P<0.001),the avoidance dimension(r=0.181,P<0.05)and negatively correlated with the submission dimension of medical coping style(r=-0.253,P<0.001).4.The results of the multifactorial analysis showed that the duration of radiotherapy, individual need status, and medical coping style confrontation dimensions entered the regression equation(P<0.05).Conclusion:The level of benefit finding for patients treated with radiotherapy for head and neck cancers is moderately and needs to be further improved.Duration of radiotherapy, individual need status and positive coping style were the influencing factors for the benefit finding of head and neck cancer radiotherapy patients, suggesting that clinical healthcare professionals should encourage patients to adopt positive coping strategies and adopt personalized nursing interventions according to different radiotherapy durations and patients’ individual need status to improve patients’ benefit level, thus promoting patients’psychological adaptation and improving their psychological outcomes and quality of life. |
