ObjectiveThe software of Internet + DIET survey was developed for Hainan area, and the reliability and validity of the APP were tested in middle-aged and old people.MethodsUsing the idea of software design, the first step was to review the literature related to dietary surveys through the databases purchased by Hainan Medical College(China Knowledge Network,Wanfang Database,Wipu Database,Pub Med,Medline)to assess the advantages, disadvantages and applicability of various dietary survey methods;on the basis of literature research, the members of the subject group(four master’s degree students in nutrition and six instructors)discussed in small groups Based on the literature research, the members of the group(four master students in nutrition and six instructors)determined the functional modules and partitions of the dietary survey software through group discussion;collected and collated relevant information according to the relevant literature and guidelines to establish the back-end database of the APP,including the common food materials and dietary nutrition knowledge base. Finally, the interaction between the background database and the dietary survey software was carried out through the Internet to realise the purpose of dietary survey and dietary management. After the APP design was completed,a small-scale trial was conducted and the APP was revised according to the feedback from the target population. Finally, the reliability and validity of the APP were verified. The validity analysis used the weighing method and biological indicators as the validity criteria, and the nutrients of the APP dietary survey were correlated with the nutrients of the validity criteria to obtain the range of validity coefficients of the APP dietary survey, and the consistency of validity was analysed by the Bland-Altman method. The reliability analysis was performed by the retest reliability method, and the correlation between the nutrients of the APP dietary survey was analysed by the two APP dietary surveys before and after a 1-month interval to obtain the range of reliability coefficients of the APP dietary survey, and the consistency of the reliability coefficients was analysed by the intra-group correlation coefficient.Results/Outcomes1.The Meal APP adopts B/S architecture to design and implement a mobile service platform for meal survey and nutrition management. The dietary survey and nutrition management application APP mainly includes functions such as personal centre, questionnaire survey and daily dietary records. The questionnaire module is a questionnaire survey on users’ dietary habits and personal conditions, with various question types such as single choice, multiple choice and short answer, which can jump to different questions according to users’ answers, thus forming a personalised questionnaire for users. The dietary survey module allows you to add a daily dietary record, select the food you eat and fill in the serving size, provide a reference image of the food,so that you can estimate the exact grams,or select different dates to view historical nutritional totals.Once the user has recorded the meal for the day,the amount of nutrients consumed can be calculated based on the food composition table, and dietary analysis can be carried out based on the dietary nutrition knowledge base, with corresponding reminders when certain types of food or nutrients are exceeded.2.The results of the validity analysis showed that the unadjusted and energy-adjusted Spearman correlation coefficients between the APP recording method and the weighing method ranged from 0.463-0.767(0.610)and 0.447-0.654(0.555),with all nutrient correlation coefficients >0.300.The results of the two methods were analysed using Bland-Altman analysis to The consistency of the findings of the two methods was tested using Bland-Altman analysis. The results found that no more than10% of the study participants exceeded 95% LOA.3.In the retest reliability studies with 1-month intervals before and after, the unadjusted and energy-adjusted correlation coefficients were 0.198-0.888(0.710)and0.195-0.851(0.671),with Spearman correlation coefficients >0.50 for most nutrients, and ICC consistency tests showed that, except for thiamine, riboflavin, vitamin D,calcium and iodine, the ICC values were all >0.50.Conclusion1.After careful research and design, after reading a lot of relevant literature and group discussion, the Diet APP developed by the research group was adopted in the form of an APP to assist users to fill in meal records through food pictures,it is of great significance to update the methods of dietary survey in Hainan by connecting background dietary database with internet to reflect the dietary intake in real time and to manage the dietary intake.2.App was compared with other methods, such as weighing method, biological index method, and energy correction method. The results showed that APP diet record method had high validity.Secondly, the reliability of the APP diet recording method was analyzed by energy correction. The results showed that APP diet record method had good reliability. Therefore, the APP has good reliability and validity in the middle-aged and elderly population in Hainan.
