Objective:By observing the effects of trigger points embedding on VAS score, hip function score and Piriformis muscle thickness of affected side in patients with Piriformis Syndrome before and after treatment, the therapeutic effect of trigger points embedding on Piriformis Syndrome was initially discussed,in order to provide more alternative and effective methods for the treatment of Piriformis Syndrome. Methods:Sixty patients with Piriformis Syndrome(PS)who met the diagnosis, inclusion and exclusion criteria were randomly divided into observation group and control group, with 30 patients in each group. In the observation group, the trigger points embedding treatment was performed within two weeks’ course, that operated once every two weeks.During the operation, the absorbable protein line was indentured at the trigger points of Piriformis muscle by ultrasound localization.Control group for massage treatment within two weeks’ course, that was operated every other day, that is,3 times a week(6 times a course in total).Massage steps refer to the "Guidelines for the Diagnosis and treatment of Common diseases in Orthopedics Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine".The Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)score, hip function score and Piriformis muscle thickness of the affected side were recorded in two separated groups before and after treatment.SPSS 21.0 software was used to sort out the study data and analyze the statistical results to evaluate the clinical efficacy. The test level was α=0.05.P < 0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results:1.VAS score: Compared within the groups,VAS score of observation group and control group after treatment was lower than before, that means statistical significance(P<0.05).The VAS score of the observation group after treatment was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.Hip function score: Compared within the group, the hip function score of observation group and control group was higher after treatment, that means statistical significance(P<0.05).The hip function score of the observation group after treatment was higher than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Piriformis muscle thickness on the affected side: comparison within the groups showed that the Piriformis muscle thickness in observation group and control group was lower after treatment than before, that means statistical significance(P<0.05).The thickness of the affected Piriformis muscle in the observation group after treatment was lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.The total effective rate of the observation group was 92.86%;The total effective rate of control group was 81.48%.There was a statistically significant difference in efficacy between the two groups(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.Both trigger points embedding and massage therapy can alleviate pain symptoms in PS patients, improve hip joint function, reduce the thickness of the affected side Piriformis muscle.2.The clinical effect of trigger points embedding in the treatment of PS is better than that of massage therapy, which is an effective and optional method. |
