| Since the reform and opening up,China’s economy has been continuously developing, and the household population structure of residents has also changed accordingly. The income and education level of Chinese residents are constantly improving; On the other hand, issues such as aging population and declining birth rates are gradually emerging.Based on the above changes in the social environment,it is particularly important to ensure basic livelihood security. The basic medical insurance system in China is an important component of the social insurance system, providing basic medical security for urban and rural residents. As a supplement to the basic medical insurance system, commercial medical insurance has the opportunity to usher in new development opportunities in the changing family population structure. The establishment of a basic medical insurance system can ensure the basic well-being of the people, fairly allocate medical resources, and coordinate the balanced development of urban and rural areas.Although the coverage rate of basic medical insurance in China is already high, there are still problems such as low overall coverage level and uneven coverage. The reimbursement ratio of basic medical insurance for certain diseases and drugs is not high, resulting in some severely ill patients still having to bear heavy expenses. In this case, commercial medical insurance is needed to supplement. In a family, the health protection of underage children and the elderly is often given more attention. In recent years, the aging population has increased residents’ demand for the medical industry, and the introduction of the second and third child policies will also have a further impact on the demand for commercial medical insurance. This thesis uses the logit model to empirically analyze the 2019 Chinese household financial survey data, attempting to derive the impact of household population structure on the demand for commercial medical insurance. The empirical results show that households’ demand for commercial medical insurance will decrease with the increase of family members’ age;Women prefer to purchase commercial medical insurance more than men;Residents with higher levels of education have a higher level of purchasing commercial medical insurance;Families with higher incomes have a higher willingness to purchase commercial medical insurance;Families with high investment risk preferences are more willing to purchase commercial medical insurance. In the current situation of significant changes in population structure, this thesis hopes to use the above empirical research results to provide suggestions for national policies, insurance companies, and consumers,so that the development of commercial medical insurance is more in line with the interests of the people. |
