In the report of the 20 th Party Congress,General Secretary Xi once again emphasized "not forgetting the original intention and remembering the calling",which not only reflects the ideal beliefs and goals of the CPC,but also brings profound inspiration to the development and management of organizations and employees.Living one’s calling has gradually become the buzzword of the times.Over the past three years of fighting the epidemic, the majority of medical and nursing groups went forward and backward to realize their own callings in their respective positions.Employees who are unable to show their ambition and calling at work will lead to negative behaviors that are not conducive to the development of the organization. Thus organizations need to take a series of measures to help or facilitate employees to live their callings. Therefore, based on self-determination theory, this study focuses on investigating the mechanisms of high commitment HRM practices on employees’ living calling. In which a sense of meaning of work is introduced as a mediating variable, while spiritual leadership as a moderating variable to finally construct a moderated mediation model. In this study,357 valid questionnaires were collected in the Chinese cultural context, and the hypotheses were empirically analyzed by SPSS and AMOS software and tested one by one.(1)High-commitment HR practices have a positive effect on employee Living calling;(2)High-commitment HR practices positively influence the meaning of work;(3)The meaning of work mediates the relationship between high-commitment HRM practices and Living one’s calling;(4)Spiritual leadership positively moderates the direct relationship between high-commitment HRM practices and Living one’s calling,i.e.,the positive impact between high-commitment HRM practices and Living one’s calling is more pronounced under a spiritual leadership style;(5)Spiritual leadership positively moderates the mediating effect of meaning of work between high-commitment HRM practices and Living one’s calling,i.e.,the higher the level of spiritual leadership, the stronger the mediating effect through meaning of work, and vice versa. This study theoretically enriches the exploration of the influence mechanism of high commitment HRM practices and the antecedent variables of Living one’s calling, and establishes a mechanism model of high commitment HRM practices on employees’ calling living. In practice,it inspires organizations to take measures to ensure that employees can successfully live their callings and timely satisfy the unrealized sense of calling within employees.
