Objective:This study aimed to evaluate the clinical value of the combination of endoscopic findings and general information of outpatients with RE in predicting reflux symptoms recurrence. Methods:A total of 261 outpatients who were diagnosed with RE complicated by anatomical alterations at the gastroesophageal junction and reflux symptoms were included in the study.Through follow-up,patients were divided into general group(149 cases)and recurrent group(112 cases). The endoscopic findings and general information of these patients were retrospectively analyzed.Receiver operating characteristic curves of the related factors were analyzed to compare the efficacy of each factor in predicting reflux recurrence. Results:Axial length of hiatal hernia(HH),diameter of the esophageal hiatus,Hill classification, and BMI were risk factors for reflux recurrence. The optimal cut-off values of the following factors for predicting reflux recurrence:an axial length of HH of>2 cm,esophageal hiatus diameter score of>2 scores,Hill grade>III,and BMI of>25.1 kg/m~2.The differences in the area under the curve between the combination of four factors and each individual factor were statistically significant. The sensitivity and specificity of the combined factors for predicting reflux recurrence were 70.54%and81.88%,respectively.Conclusions:The combination of an axial length of HH>2 cm;esophageal hiatus diameter≥3cm;Hill grade>III and BMI>25.1 kg/m~2could serve as a predictor for reflux symptom recurrence.
