Evaluation Of Pre-hospitalization In Patients Undergoing Thyroid Surgery Based On Propensity Score Matching

Objective:To estimate the application effect of Pre-hospitalization mode in thyroid surgery,so as to better apply the Pre-hospitalization mode in hospital management and benefit patients,hospitals and society.Methods:This retrospective cohort study included data of patients who underwent elective thyroid surgery at the First Hospital of Shanxi Medical University from April 1^st,2021 to December 31^st,2021.1215 patients were divided into two groups according to whether receive Pre-hospitalization mode:Pre-hospitalization group（n=405）was admitted according to the Pre-hospitalization process;The routine group（n=810）was admitted according to the routine procedure.At first,the study used propensity score matching method（PSM）to correct mixed factors between the groups.And 403 patients in each group met the eligibility for inclusion.Then,the study used the independent sample t-test and?²test to comprehensively analysis the influence of Pre-hospitalization mode implanting PSM on different respects which included the length of hospital stay,preoperative hospital length,hospital waiting time,satisfaction degree,and anxiety and depression after pre-anesthesia evaluation.Results:Of the 1215 patients,405 were in the Pre-hospitalization group（33.3%）and 810were in the routine group（66.7%）.After comparing the Baseline data of patients in the two groups,the results showed statistical significance among the age,disease type and severity differences（P<0.05）.However,after applying PSM,there were 403 patients in each group,and the results showed that there was not statistically significant between the baseline data（P>0.05）.Compared with the routine group,the length of hospitalization and preoperative hospitalization in the Pre-hospitalization group was significantly reduced（P<0.001）.Patient satisfaction was 99.01%which raised significantly（P<0.001）,besides the adverse mood after the pre-anesthesia evaluation in the Pre-hospitalization group was significantly relieved（P<0.001）.Conclusion:The Pre-hospitalization model is able to effectively shorten the length of hospital stay and reduce the waiting time before surgery.It can also improve patients’satisfaction and relieve patients’depression,anxiety and other bad emotions,Besides,Pre-hospitalization mode is helpful in solving the problem of difficult hospitalization caused by the lack of sufficient beds.In summary,the pre-hospitalization management model is worthy of advocating and popularizing.
