Objective: To comprehensively evaluate the efficacy and safety of endovenous radiofrequency ablation(RFA)and endovenous laser ablation(EVLA)in the treatment of lower extremity varicose veins. Methods: A total of 120 patients with varicose veins of the lower extremities in our hospital during December 1,2020 to November 31,2021 were selected as the study subjects.According to the type of surgery, there were 68 patients(87 limbs)in the endovascular radiofrequency ablation(RFA)surgery group and 52 patients(62 limbs)in the endovenous laser ablation(EVLA)surgery group.Collected preoperative and intraoperative clinical data, followed up 1 month and 3 months after operation, duplex ultrasound, venous refilling Venous refill time(VRT),venous clinical severity score(VCSS)and chronic venous insufficiency questionnaire(CIVIQ-14)were used to comprehensively evaluate the postoperative treatment effect. Results: There was no significant difference in basic clinical data such as age, gender, body mass index, etc.between the two groups(P >0.05),which were comparable.Compared with EVLA group,RFA group had less intraoperative blood loss and shorter hospital stay(P <0.05).The results of duplex ultrasound showed that the closure rate of the great saphenous vein was 100% in both groups at 1 month after operation,96.6% in RFA group and 95.2% in EVLA group at 3 months after operation, with no significant difference(P > 0.05).In terms of VRT detection,VCSS and CIVIQ-14 scores, showed that there was no difference between the two surgical groups before and 1 and 3 months after surgery(P > 0.05).However,after surgery, both significantly increased in VRT time and CIVIQ-14 score, decreased in VCSS score(P < 0.001).Conclusion:Both RFA and EVLA surgeries have significant therapeutic effects, but RFA has better intraoperative bleeding and hospital stay than EVLA.The VRT and VRT(knee compression)of the two groups of patients at 1 and 3 months after surgery were significantly increased compared to before surgery.VRT has the potential to serve as a supplementary indicator for postoperative evaluation of lower limb varicose vein patients, and is objective, economical, and simple.
