Objective:1.Comprehensively grasp the learning motivation of nursing undergraduates through a questionnaire survey on the learning motivation of Acute and Emergency Nursing courses.2.Based on the investigation and analysis of the learning motivation of students in the early stage,combined with the characteristics of the curriculum of Acute and Emergency Nursing,the teaching design of the curriculum of Acute and Emergency Nursing was carried out according to the ARCS Motivation Model,including the design of ARCS motivation strategies and the formulation of teaching programs.3.Online teaching practice of Acute and Emergency Nursing was conducted based on ARCS Motivation Model to evaluate the teaching effect,so as to enhance students’ learning motivation in Acute and Emergency Nursing courses,improve their academic performance and improve the quality of nursing teaching.Methods:1.Literature review method: systematically consult Chinese and foreign databases,analyze and summarize relevant literature,and understand the ARCS Motivation Model.2.Questionnaire survey method: The Study Motivation Questionnaire of Nursing undergraduates was prepared to test its reliability and validity.The study motivation of Acute and Emergency Nursing undergraduates was investigated by questionnaire.3.Class experimental study: Cluster sampling method was used to select 2018 nursing undergraduates from a college of nursing in Shanxi Province as the control group and 2019 nursing undergraduates as the intervention group.The control group adopted conventional online teaching,and the intervention group adopted online teaching based on ARCS Motivation Model.The learning motivation and academic performance of the two groups were compared.4.Semi-structured interview method: After teaching,semi-structured interview was conducted on students in the intervention group to understand their learning experience in the course.Results:1.The Questionnaire on Learning Motivation of Nursing Undergraduates compiled in this study includes 4 dimensions and 24 items.Cronbach’s α coefficient of the questionnaire was 0.773,indicating good reliability and validity.The survey results show that the total score of students’ learning motivation is(84.09±6.21).2.Intervention results(1)Baseline data: Before intervention,there was no significant difference in general information and learning motivation level between the two groups(P>0.05),and baseline data were comparable.(2)Learning motivation: After intervention,the scores and total scores of all dimensions of learning motivation in the intervention group were higher than those in the control group,the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05);The scores of all dimensions of learning motivation and total scores of students in the intervention group were higher than those before intervention,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(3)Academic performance: After intervention,students in the intervention group had higher scores in peacetime,final and comprehensive scores than those in the control group,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).(4)Student interview results: After teaching,students’ learning experience in the course of Acute and Emergency Nursing was summarized into seven themes,which were divided into two parts: positive experience and improvement suggestions.There are five themes of positive experience,including novel classroom form,enhanced main body status,increased learning enthusiasm,improved learning efficiency,and improved comprehensive ability.The suggestions for improvement can be summarized into two themes,including simplifying classroom tasks and combining theory and skills.Conclusion:1.The learning motivation of nursing students in a college in Shanxi Province for the course of Acute and Emergency Nursing needs to be improved,and it is necessary to carry out teaching reform.2.Combined with the current situation of students’ learning motivation and the curriculum characteristics of Acute and Emergency Nursing,the teaching design was carried out based on ARCS Motivation Model,which was in line with the actual situation of Acute and Emergency Nursing teaching.3.Applying the teaching based on ARCS Motivation Model to online teaching practice of Acute and Emergency Nursing has achieved good results,which can improve students’ learning motivation,academic performance and teaching quality.It is an effective teaching method,which is conducive to exploring a new teaching model of Acute and Emergency Nursing and promoting the teaching reform of nursing courses.
