Objective:To explore the thickness changes and reliability analysis of ultrasound imaging in measuring the thickness of breathing-related muscle groups in different postures of healthy adults. Methods: Ultrasound imaging was used to measure the thickness of muscle groups in healthy adults in supine, sitting and standing position in different respiratory states. The different breathing states include: calm end-inspiration,calm end-expiration,maximal end-inspiration,maximal end-expiration.The target muscle groups include bilateral diaphragm, intercostal muscles, transversus abdominis, internal obliques, external obliques and rectus abdominis,a total of 6 muscle groups. Before the ultrasound imaging measurement, the subjects had to rest quietly for 5 minutes, and then taught the subjects the abdominal breathing pattern. When measuring, measure once every other day in the order of supine, sitting, and standing position, and measure in turn.In the same body position, the order of measuring muscle groups is random, with each muscle groups as the target, and in different breathing states.Using ultrasound imaging to measure the thickness of the target muscle group, make a record and store the image. Both on the left and right sides in the same way.The SPSS statistical analysis software was used to analyze the measurement data. The comparison between multiple groups was carried out by analysis of variance, and the comparison between groups was carried out by the least significant difference(Least Significant Difference,LSD)test,P<0.05 was regarded as a statistically significant difference.Show different postures, different breathing states, and changes in muscle thickness.Intraclass Correlation Coefficients(ICC),Standard Error of Measurement(SEM)and Minimum Detectable Change(MDC)were used to analyze the reliability of the measurement results.Results:1.The thickness of bilateral diaphragm, transversus abdominis, and internal oblique muscles changed significantly with the change of body position under different breathing conditions, and the changes of muscle thickness in standing position and sitting position were more than those in supine position(P<0.05);2.The lateral intercostal muscles at the end of quiet expiration and the end of maximum expiration, the muscle thickness changes in the sitting position were more than those in the supine position(P<0.05),and the muscle thickness did not change with the body position in other breathing states(P>0.05);3.The lateral external obliques at the end of maximum inspiration, the muscle thickness of the standing position changed more than that of the supine position(P<0.05);4.The muscle thickness of the bilateral rectus abdominis in different breathing states was not affected by the position(P>0.05).5.The reliability of ultrasound imaging measurement of muscle thickness in the supine position under different breathing states is moderate to excellent(ICC=0.529-0.979),and the reliability of the muscle thickness of the left diaphragm in the supine position under different breathing states is moderate to good(ICC= 0.529-0.847),the rest are above good(ICC≥0.75)。The reliability of ultrasound imaging measurement of muscle thickness under different breathing states in the sitting position is good to excellent(ICC≥0.761).The reliability of ultrasound imaging measurement of muscle thickness in standing position under different breathing states is good to excellent(ICC≥0.787),and the general ICC is greater than 0.75.Conclusions:1.Different body positions and different breathing states have different changes in the thickness of breathing-related muscle groups.Which is helpful for provides patients with provide references for formulating breathing-related muscle training position to improve the efficiency of clinical treatment.2.Ultrasound imaging measurement of respiratory-related muscle thickness in different positions and different breathing states has high reliability,it can be used as a muscle assessment method, training guidance, and evaluation index for training effectiveness.
