Objective The aim of this study was to investigate the incidence of malnutrition in hospitalized IBD patients in Ningxia region through the GLIM standard, and to identify the relevant factors that affect malnutrition in hospitalized patients with inflammatory bowel disease based on the GLIM standard,to obtain the cutoff value of muscle loss, and to provide a theoretical basis for effective diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of malnutrition in hospitalized patients with inflammatory bowel disease. Methods This study adopts a cross-sectional survey method and selects 98 adult hospitalized patients with IBD who were diagnosed with IBD in the department of gastroenterology at the General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University from October 2020 to July 2021 as the research subjects.Collect general information of patients and the first laboratory indicators after admission: blood routine, biochemical routine, erythrocyte sedimentation rate,C-reactive protein.Nutritional risk screening was performed on all patients within 48 hours of hospitalization using the NRS 2002,and the grip strength, upper arm circumference, triceps skin-fold thickness, and calf circumference of all patients were measured simultaneously. For patients at risk of malnutrition, immediately used GLIM standards for malnutrition assessment and grading, and investigated the incidence of malnutrition. After obtaining relevant factors, the influencing factors of malnutrition in patients with inflammatory bowel disease were identified through logistic regression analysis, and the optimal diagnostic threshold was obtained through the ROC curve. Results 1.The incidence of malnutrition in hospitalized patients with IBD was 43.88%,with a UC incidence of 39.68% and a CD incidence of 51.43%.Compared with UC patients,CD patients were more prone to malnutrition(P<0.05).2.In UC patients, activity staging, presence of complications, severity of the disease, endoscopic score, hemoglobin, albumin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, upper arm muscle circumference, calf circumference, and grip strength were risk factors for malnutrition(P<0.05).3.In UC patients, malnutrition could be considered when albumin ≤ 34.97g/L,male grip strength ≤ 31.8kg,and female grip strength ≤25.9kg.4.In CD patients, malnutrition was related to the lesion site, stage of activity, presence of complications, severity of the disease, endoscopic score, hemoglobin, total protein, albumin, erythrocyte sedimentation rate, upper arm muscle circumference, calf circumference, and grip strength(P<0.05).5.In CD patients, malnutrition could be considered when albumin≤ 36.39g/L,male grip strength ≤ 29.7kg,and female grip strength ≤ 27.2kg.Conclusions 1.The incidence of malnutrition in hospitalized patients with inflammatory bowel disease was higher, especially in CD patients, exceeding 50%.Compared with UC patients,CD patients were more prone to malnutrition.2.Activity staging, whether there were complications, severity of the disease, endoscopic score, hemoglobin, albumin,ESR,upper arm muscle circumference, calf circumference, and grip strength were influencing factors for malnutrition in hospitalized IBD patients.3.In UC patients, when albumin ≤34.97g/L,male grip strength ≤ 31.8kg,or female grip strength ≤ 24.25 kg,malnutrition could be considered.4.In CD patients, when albumin ≤ 36.39g/L,male grip strength ≤ 29.7kg,or female grip strength ≤ 27.2kg,malnutrition could be considered.
