| Huangmei Opera is a local drama that sprouted in the Anhui-Hubei-Jiangxi area during the middle and late Qing period. An important process of its development is the emerging of the complete repertoire.Works of Talk-and-sing art, dramatic works of various genres and folk songs are recognized by former researchers as the three sources of traditional Huangmei Opera repertoire, among which Talk-and-sing art and dramatic works are the main sources. From both macro and micro levels,we can take the earliest known primary documents of Huangmei Opera repertoire as the core material, and compare them with Talk-and-sing works, dramatic works(including the plays of Qingyang Qiang,Yuexi Gaoqiang, etc.)and folk songs from the perspectives of text styles, story frames and dramatic structure.By doing that,we can learn that in macroscopic view,Talk-and-sing art is dominant among the three sources, meanwhile, the influence of some dramatic works on Huangmei Opera is questionable. In microscopic view, one Huangmei Opera play can be affected by the combined influence of three sources, and in the process of inheritance and adaptation, adjustments were made according to the characteristics of the Huangmei Opera itself. The first chapter introduces the newly obtained primary literature of Huangmei Opera repertoire produced in the Republic of China era, analyzes the background and the appearance of the literature, summarizes the content of these plays and classifies them by theme. The second chapter summarizes and examines the previous research conclusions about the source of traditional Huangmei Opera repertoire.Based on text analysis, this chapter puts forward a viewpoint that the works of Talk-and-sing art are the main source of Huangmei Opera repertoire production materials,as well as questions the influence of various dramatic plays on Huangmei Opera plays, which was suggested by former researchers. The third chapter takes the “ Liangshan Bo and Zhuying Tai ” repertoire as an example, analyzes the comprehensive influence of Talk-and-sing works, dramatic works and folk songs on this play, and points out the flexibility of Huangmei Opera in the inheritance and adaptation process. The conclusion part summarizes the features of the various sources of Huangmei Opera repertoire from both macro and micro aspects and suggested that a detailed study of the sources of more specific repertoire is a new direction for further research on this topic. |
