| The Wenchuan earthquake not only brought negative psychological effects such as depression,anxiety,and PTSD to children and adolescents,but also left a positive mark on them of independence and strength,caring for others,and cherishing life.In order to explore the trend of the long–term impact of the Wenchuan earthquake on children and adolescents,this study investigated social support,belief in a just world,gratitude and post-traumatic growth to young survivors aged 18–30(6-18 years old at the time of the Wenchuan earthquake)12 years after the earthquake.Based on the analysis of the status and the characteristics of the post-traumatic growth of the group,the relationship between social support,belief in a just world,gratitude and post-traumatic growth is also explored,with a view to enriching social support for Research on the influence mechanism of post-traumatic growth.This study uses a combination of quantitative and qualitative research methods.The quantitative research adopts the questionnaire survey method,and takes 515 young survivors who meet the two conditions of "located in Dujiangyan at the time of the Wenchuan earthquake" and "current age 18-30" as the research objects;survey tools include self-compiled social demographics questionnaire,Perceived Social Support Scale,Belief of a Just World Scale,Gratitude Scale,and Post-traumatic Growth Inventory;statistical analysis is performed through SPSS and AMOS software.The qualitative study selected 9 participants who left their contact information after the questionnaire survey and expressed their willingness to accept a return visit to conduct semi-structured interviews to further explore the characteristics of post-traumatic growth of young survivors and the impact of social support on post-traumatic growth.The quantitative findings are as follows:(1)The post-traumatic growth scores of young survivors 12 years after the Wenchuan earthquake were in the upper-middle level;(2)Social support,belief in a just world,gratitude,and post-traumatic growth were significantly positive related;(3)Social support has a significant positive predictive effect on post-traumatic growth;(4)Social support can indirectly affect post-traumatic growth through the mediating role of belief in a just world;(5)Social support can indirectly affect post-traumatic growth through the mediating role of gratitude;(6)Social support can indirectly affects post-traumatic growth through the chain mediation of belief in a just world and gratitude.The qualitative findings are as follows:(1)The main contributing factors to the post-traumatic growth of young survivors are: trauma exposure,social support,positive response,belief in a just world and gratitude.Among them,trauma exposure,social support as external contributing factors,positive response,belief in a just world,gratitude as internal contributing factors;(2)The main manifestations of post-traumatic growth of young survivors are: pro-social tendencies,relationships with others,personal strength,appreciation of life,spiritual change.Among them,pro-social tendencies,relationships with others are outward growth,personal strength,appreciation of life,spiritual change are inward growth.This study explores the status and characteristics of post-traumatic growth of young survivors in the long period after the earthquake and the influence mechanism of social support on post-traumatic growth.The results of this study can provide a theoretical reference for improving post-disaster psychological intervention and for promoting post-traumatic growth in the future. |
