The Individual Writing And Identity Imagination Of “Peasant Poets” In Short Videos

Since the founding of The People’s Republic of China,with the continuous and rapid development of urbanization in China,the gap between urban and rural development has been expanding,resulting in the situation of dual opposition between urban and rural culture.As an important part of China’s urban and rural structure,peasant groups and their expression are a mirror to record the times,reflect the peasants’ situation and perspective social development.The medium determines our situation.The medium determines our situation.In the era of mobile Internet,the development and progress of information technology and the update and iteration of media application have brought digital empowerment to rural society.“Short video”has become a “new agricultural tool”,which greatly stimulates individual initiative and creativity.Farmers connected with the land began their writing and cultural expression in the short video,and this phenomenon has aroused widespread social attention.Under the multidisciplinary theoretical perspective of “subaltern representation”and “identity”,this paper selects typical “peasant poets” on Kuaishou platform such as “Shimei Han” as the research objects.Through participatory observation,content analysis and in-depth interviews,this paper investigates the new phenomenon of farmers writing poems in short videos in the context of the era of rural revitalization.The paper is divided into six parts: The introduction part introduces the origin and significance of the research,the research status and literature review,the definition of relevant theories and concepts,and the research design and innovation,etc.The first chapter describes the rise of “peasant poets” and the present situation of short videos,and explains the reasons for its rise.The second chapter takes “Shimei Han” as an example,to make a quantitative analysis of the short video writing of “peasant poets”,and summarizes the communication strategies of “peasant poets” in the aspects of writing angle,visual representation and personal dynamics.The third chapter,based on the interviews with 13 “peasant poets”,explains how they view their self-identity,and explores how they construct their self-identity and group identity of “poet” in imagination by means of writing,performance and communication practice in short videos.The fourth chapter,from the height of the era dimension,explores the value and significance of “peasant poet” short video writing in the four dimensions of individual,peasant group,mass culture and social development.The conclusion points out the limitations of the “peasant poets” in the short videos in individual writing and interaction and gives specific suggestions.This paper finds that,the rise of “peasant poets” and the presentation of short videos are a new phenomenon created by the joint action of multiple forces such as policy,technology and society in the new era.Secondly,the “peasant poets” in the short videos are almost “always online”,and their writing has a strong “personal”narrative perspective.And with the deepening of media involvement and writing practice,they pay more attention to the coordination and collocation of “sound” and“picture” language elements in communication.Thirdly,the “peasant poet” always recognizes his identity as a peasant,but writing poems opens up the imagination of his identity as a poet.The writing practice in the short video is the projection of real emotions,through continuous performance in the “background” scene,they obtain the evaluation of others’ approval,and form farmers’ identification with their identity as“poets” at the individual level.At the same time,with the establishment and deepening of the group boundary of “online poetry club”,the practice activities of“poetry as the medium” tend to become daily and active,and farmers construct the identity of “poet” at the social level.Finally,the short video writing of “peasant poet”has the times value and significance of promoting the diversified development of farmers,realizing the breakthrough and reconstruction of farmers’ group identity,promoting the popularization of culture as well as recording the process of rural revitalization and the new prospect of rural development.
