| As the academic circle attaches more and more importance to deep learning,how to cultivate students’ deep learning competence in teaching has become a research focus.In English teaching,the application of mind maps in English reading teaching is highly recommended by experts.However,the previous studies did not focus on the influence of the application of mind maps on students’ deep learning.Therefore,it is of great significance to study the impacts of mind maps on students’ deep learning of reading in primary school English reading teaching.This study aims to explore how mind maps impact students’ deep learning of reading.The teaching experiment lasts for four months.The research subjects of this study are ninety students of Grade five from two classes of a primary school in Zhejiang.One is the experimental class and the other is the control class.The experimental class adopted mind maps to assist reading teaching,while the traditional reading teaching method was used in the control class.This study discusses the following two questions: 1.What impact does the application of mind maps for English reading teaching have on students’ deep learning process of reading? 2.What impact does the application of mind maps in English reading teaching have on students’ deep learning outcomes of reading? Based on the characteristics of the research questions and the need to answer the above research questions,this study adopts a mixed research method combining quantitative research and qualitative research.The quantitative research tools are closed questionnaires prepared by the researcher and pre-test and post-test papers,and the qualitative research tool is the interview.The author conducted pre-test and post-test for both the experimental class and the control class,and collected experimental data through questionnaire survey,and analyzed it with SPSS22.0 software.After the quantitative and qualitative analyses,the results show that : 1.The application of mind maps in English reading teaching has positive impacts on the depth of students’ learning process of reading.It can make students’ classroom questioning and answering more active and improve classroom participation.2.The application of mind maps in English reading teaching has positive impacts on the depth of students’ learning outcomes of reading.It is mainly manifested that the use of mind maps in English reading teaching can improve students’ academic performance and learning interest in English reading,upgrade students’ reading learning strategies,cultivate students’ logical thinking,divergent thinking and creative thinking,and level up students’ reading comprehension ability and retelling ability.In addition,students also embrace an attitude of supporting this teaching approach. |
