A C-E Translation Report On The Exploration Of Mongolian Culture(Excerpts)Under The Guidance Of Cultural Translation Theory

With the implementation of China’s “Go Global” policy,worldwide publicity translation of folk culture has enormous potential.The Mongol is a nomadic ethnic group with distinctive characteristics in northern China,and its uniqueness and mystery have attracted more and more people’s attention.This article is a report on Chinese-English translation practice.The source text of the report is an excerpt from The Exploration of Mongolian Culture by Xu Fulin,a teacher from the 14 th Middle School in Hohhot.The English translation of The Exploration of Mongolian Culture is a bridge to promote "horse-riding ethnic group" culture to the world.The source text is excerpted from the first,fourth,eighth and tenth chapters of the book which introduces Mongolian history,food,clothing,etiquette and customs,etc.It is vivid and interesting,simple and easy to understand,and it is a good inheritance and spread of Mongolian culture.The source text has a total of 12,116 words.This research takes Bassnett’s cultural translation theory as its theoretical guidance,takes "cultural equivalence" as its principle,aims to better spread the Mongolian culture,and discusses how to translate and introduce the folk culture.The research adopts exemplification to study the translation strategies of Mongolian people’s names,culture-loaded words and other unique problems of folk culture like idioms in The Exploration of Mongolian Culture.The research draws on certain parallel texts and makes a beneficial attempt to translate some cultural phenomena that are unprecedented and difficult to determine.The research shows that the practice of translation strategies and specific translation methods in Mongolian culture further verified that Bassnett’s cultural translation theory can effectively guide the translation practice of texts with Mongolian cultural characteristics and can effectively transmit folk cultural information and enhance cross-cultural communication.The research believes that specific translation methods can better solve the translation problems of folk culture.
