| With increasing research and academic work on the translation of children’s literature,the interaction between texts and contexts in the translation of children’s literature has provided new research domain for translation research.Against this background,this report is based on the translation of Studying Texts and Contexts in Translated Children’s Literature,which is the introduction of the leading academic work Children’s Literature in Translation:Texts and Contexts.This report mainly analyzes the difficulties and solutions encountered in the translation process.This report is divided into four chapters.The first chapter provides an overview of the translation task,including the basic information of the task,the characteristics of source text and the significance of the task.The second chapter introduces the process of translation practice,which is divided into three parts and mainly discusses the application of parallel texts and various translation tools.The third chapter introduces the "Comprehension,Expression,Adaptation" framework,studies different cases of translation categorized by three aspects of CEA framework,and then classifies and explains in detail the translation contents.The problem-solving ability of translators in the translation process is reflected by the comprehensive analysis and understanding of specific translation cases,appropriate applicable translation theories and optimal solutions.Besides,the comprehension section focuses on avoiding and correcting mistranslation by means of in-depth understanding of original context and general background information.The Expression section shows how the translator brings the translation closer to the original text,and analyzes wording,text coherence and the avoidance of Europeanized Chinese.The Adaptation section focuses on the translation purpose,and on improving the translation by adjusting the structure and adaptability by reorganizing sentence structures to achieve the purpose of translation.The fourth chapter summarizes the experience accumulated in this translation practice,the translation strategies applied and some reflection on the overall translation process,and discusses the competence of a good translator,including search ability,utilization of translation tools and knowledge reserve.The author finds that translation work should be carried out on the basis of complete understanding of source text,then the expressions of translation can be refined and adaptations can be made if necessary.This report reviews the overall process of translation practice and summarizes translator’s experience by applying the analysis framework of "Comprehension,Expression,Adaptation" proposed by Professor Li Changshuang,with an aim to provide some reference for other translators,especially those studying or engaging in the translation of children’s literature. |
