Tang Shunzhi was a representative of the Tang-Song school in the Ming Dynasty.While respecting the writings of the Tang and Song dynasties,he believed that the ancient writings of the Tang and Song dynasties were the inheritance and development of the ancient writings of the Qin and Han dynasties,so he had a profound study of the prose of the Qin and Han dynasties.On the basis of summarizing the theoretical achievements of Tang Dynasty ancient texts,Tang Shunzhi analyzed them from the perspective of literary style and created the innovative concept of "using ancient texts as current texts",and became a major school in the mid-Ming Dynasty with his solid creative work and profound knowledge.This article takes Mr.Jingchuan’s selected commentaries on the Historical Records as the object of study,explores the background of the period in which Tang Shunzhi commented on the Historical Records,focuses on the content of the commentaries,and further explores the literary concepts hidden in Tang Shunzhi’s commentaries on the Historical Records and the influence on his writing.The article is divided into four parts.The first part is the introduction,which introduces the background of the research and the methodology used in this topic.The first part introduces the background and methodology of this research.The popularity of commentary in the Ming Dynasty led to the emergence of a large number of works commenting on the Historical Records,among which Mr.Jingchuan’s Selected Commentaries on the Historical Records is one of the early and distinctive ones,but there is a lack of research on this book in the academic field.The second part explores the background of Mr.Jingchuan’s Selected Critical Records of History.It is mainly analyzed from the viewpoints of the retrogressive trend of Ming Dynasty scholarship,the system of the eight stocks and the development and acceptance process of the Historical Records in the Ming Dynasty.The third section examines the content of the commentary on "Mr.Jingchuan’s Selected Criticism of the Historical Records".The first section specifically analyzes the criticism symbols and their significance,involving such forms as circled dots,long erasures,and short false erasures.The second section introduces the textual commentary that better reflects Tang Shunzhi’s literary outlook,including side comments and eyebrow comments in terms of form and narrative,structure,character,and language in terms of content.The third section analyzes the characteristics of the book in terms of commentary style,selection criteria,focus of attention,and comparison of commentaries.The fourth section explores Tang Shunzhi’s view of literature implied in his commentary on the Historical Records and its influence on his own literary creation.The former focuses on the relationship between literature and the Tao,the theory of ancient literary creation,and the purpose of writing texts.The latter focuses on the creation of biographical themes and the use of historiographical techniques.
