Piano is a keyboard instrument in Western classical music.With its wide range,rich harmony,gorgeous sound quality,exquisite hand feel and difficult performance skills,it has won wide praise and is known as the "king of musical instruments".At the same time,the development of piano is also an important part of music history,making indelible achievements for music development.On Gulangyu Island in Xiamen,which is known as "Piano Island",there is a piano museum,in which more than 100 precious ancient pianos are displayed and collected.The manufacturing time of these collections spans the 18th-20 th century,and there are rich diversity in their appearance,manufacturing technology and historical background.It can be said that these pianos are almost a realistic reflection of the history of piano development.The research on piano instruments has a clear theoretical and practical significance.This paper takes the 19 th century piano collected in Gulangyu Piano Museum as the research object,covering three forms of square piano,vertical piano and grand piano.The collection in the museum belongs to handed down cultural relics and is collected by the donor of the museum,Mr.Hu Youyi.This paper collects and arranges the data through field investigation,and analyzes the piano collection in combination with archaeological typology and musical instrument science.Through the staging of Piano Collections in the 19 th century,this paper studies the shape,type,decoration,manufacturing technology,timbre and so on.In addition,according to the piano exploration collected by Xiamen Museum,the author sees people through the musical activities of piano in the context of Western society in the 19 th century,and tries to make a new explanation for the change of key width from the perspective of feminism by exploring the social gender identity of piano instruments.
