Wang Xiaoying is the first Chinese director with a doctor’s degree.In his more than 40 years of creative experience,he insists on the parallel of practice and concept,and makes due contributions to the domestic drama circle with fruitful theatrical achievements.So far,Wang Xiaoying has formed a set of unique directing concepts.Based on the original concept of "poetic stage image",he deliberately pursues a drama performance image with Chinese characteristics to express modernity,namely,"modern expression of Chinese image",aiming to promote traditional Chinese culture while making Chinese drama enter the international cultural context.This provides useful reference and realistic inspiration for Chinese drama creation.This paper takes Wang Xiaoying as the research subject,takes the drama of "modern expression of Chinese image" as the main research text,uses the theory of drama image and other aspects,uses the method of in-depth interview,case analysis and other research methods to analyze the way and connotation of Wang Xiaoying’s modern expression with "Chinese style performance image".In the first chapter,under the circumstances of clear background,Wang Xiaoying’s view of drama in the early stage is sorted out,and the director ideas such as performance image and poetic image proposed by Wang Xiaoying are analyzed,so as to summarize the characteristics of directing techniques in this period.In the second chapter,under the circumstances of clarifying the reasons for the transformation of Wang Xiaoying’s drama view,the author mainly analyzes Wang Xiaoying’s directing concept in recent years,trying to explore the characteristics of "Chinese performance image" and the ways and methods of Wang Xiaoying’s modern expression.That is to say,through the stage setting,props,characters and opera rhyme to create the Chinese performance image,and then use metaphor,symbol and other artistic means to convey the humanistic thinking and philosophical observation of modernity.The third chapter analyzes Wang Xiaoying’s main works of "Modern Expression of Chinese image" from the three dimensions of image reconstruction of local drama,drama interpretation of classic drama and Chinese shaping of foreign drama,in order to fully and vividly understand the connotation and essence of Wang Xiaoying’s drama view.The fourth chapter analyzes the influence of Wang Xiaoying’s drama view.Its significance is manifested as from humanity to humanity,from empathy to resonance,from tradition to modernity,that is,the special situation stimulates the progress of humanity to humanistic care,mining identity through group memory to complete the sublimation of emotion,and using traditional Chinese culture to carry on the contemporary transmission of Chinese spirit.
