Using high school students’ English learning motivation and self-efficacy as independent variables and high school students’ online learning engagement as dependent variables,this study explored the effects of high school students’ English learning motivation and self-efficacy on their online learning engagement in the context of online teaching.This study intends to investigate 301 second-year students in a high school in Harbin City using research methods such as questionnaires,structural models and interviews,with the aim of exploring the following questions:(1)What are the level of high school students’ English learning motivation,self-efficacy and online learning participation?(2)What are the effects of high school students’ English learning motivation and self-efficacy on their English online learning participation?(3)Is there a mediating factor of self-efficacy between high school students’ English learning motivation and English online learning participation?On the basis of the above research results,this study puts forward several suggestions to strengthen the motivation of high school students’ English learning,enhance their self-efficacy and promote their participation in online learning.In order to strengthen the motivation of high school students in English learning,teachers can improve the enthusiasm of high school students in learning through online teaching,through the construction of fun teaching evaluation mechanism,high school students can improve the degree of participation,and enhance their learning motivation.Students need to cultivate their independent learning ability and master certain learning strategies to improve their learning effect,so as to achieve the expected goal.In terms of improving the self-efficacy of high school students,teachers should adopt a mixed teaching mode and carry out online teaching,so that high school students can adopt a mixed learning mode of online and offline learning,realize online learning,improve the self-efficacy of high school students through learning practice,and provide a good environment and platform for online teaching and online learning.In addition,teachers should adopt reasonable and effective learning strategies for students to combine online and offline learning,so as to further improve the online learning effect of high school students.Through the above suggestions,it is hoped that the English learning motivation and self-efficacy of high school students can be strengthened,so as to promote the participation of high school students in online learning.
