| Zhang Zhao,a Yi ethnic minority from Yunnan,is one of the most active contemporary composers in China.He has made remarkable achievements in various fields,including piano music,chamber music,symphony,opera,dance drama,vocal music,and square art music.With the goal of "drawing on the essence of ethnic music and promoting Eastern music culture," Zhang Zhao has devoted himself to the creation of ethnic-style music for many years.In 2011,he composed the piano solo " In That Far Away Place," adapted from the eponymous folk song by Wang Luobin,the "Father of Northwest Folk Songs." This paper takes this piece as an example to analyze Zhang Zhao creative characteristics of " Chinese learning as fundamental principle and Western learning for practical " and explore how the composer integrates Western composition techniques into ethnic music elements,injects fresh blood into ethnic music elements,and helps the long-standing musical culture of the Chinese nation to enter the world stage.The paper discusses from three perspectives: the first chapter explores the background of the creation of " In That Far Away Place " and delves into the historical significance of adapting folk songs to piano music;the second chapter follows the train of thought of " Chinese learning as fundamental principle and Western learning for practical " and investigates Zhang Zhao’s composition techniques that integrate Western and Chinese elements;the third chapter analyzes the performance techniques of " In That Far Away Place" from the perspective of musical aesthetics.Finally,the author hopes to gain a deeper understanding of the artistic value of contemporary ethnic music on the world cultural stage through multidimensional exploration of the piano piece " In That Far Away Place". |
