’Strings of Silence ’ is a Pipa piece composed by Sun Jing in 2018.It uses Indian musical elements and is inspired by Indian poet Tagore ’s poem ’ Gitanjali ’ No.100 : ’ I want to tune my strings to match the timeless music.When it sobs out the last sound,it puts my silent piano at my silent feet.Unique music style is rare in contemporary pipa works.The author takes ’ Strings of Silence ’ as the research object.Firstly,from the creative background of the work as the starting point,the author analyzes the creative inspiration to express the humanistic connotation behind the music.The analysis of the musical structure reflects the characteristics of the rotary structure of Indian music.Secondly,it discusses in detail the application of Indian music elements in the performance of ’ Silent String ’,and how to show the characteristics of Indian music through pipa techniques.Finally,the author discusses the artistic value of Indian music elements in pipa works.The author hopes that the study of this work can provide theoretical value for researchers and performers to deeply understand and master the style of the work.
