As for grammar teaching,The National English Curriculum Standards for General High School in 2017(edited in 2020,abbreviated as “the new Curriculum Standards”)emphasizes that grammar teaching should be under the direction of the Threedimensional Grammar Theory, which holds that grammar is the combination of form, meaning, and use.The goal of language learning is to communicate, which is equally applicable to the English grammar learning. In language use,In language use,the form, meaning and application of grammatical rules constitute grammatical knowledge, which is closely connected with phonetics, vocabulary and pragmatic knowledge and jointly affects the accuracy of language expression and understanding.Concurrently, technology is also beneficial to English learning, which can meet the needs of students’ individual learning and enrich teaching resources. In actual grammar learning, many students just mechanically memorize the grammar rules so that they cannot apply them flexibly. In this study, the researcher designs some micro lectures for students to consolidate grammar after class. Some authentic discourses were chosen from authoritative websites like China Daily,BBC,CNN,etc.,whose themes are the same as that of the units in which the target grammar is taught in the textbook to build a relatively authentic context. In the micro lectures, students could realize the form of the target grammar while reading the discourse, and found out the meaning of the target grammar by exploring the main idea of the passage.Ultimately, students were required to employ the target grammar to express their ideas in the similar context designed by the researcher. The micro lectures were used to encourage students to improve their grammatical competence in form, meaning, and use.Based on Three-dimensional Grammar Framework,Systemic-functional Grammar, and Miniature Theory of Learning, using research instruments such as questionnaire, test, sample analysis and interview, the researcher designed some micro lectures to help students consolidate their newly learned grammar rules. In this research, the following questions are to be answered:1.What’s the current situation of grammar learning at X Foreign Senior High School in Chongqing?2.What are the effects of the application of micro lectures on students’ ability to use grammar?3.What are the changes in students’ attitude towards English grammar learning after the application of micro lectures? The empirical data collected in the study came from the two questionnaires, five tests, some students’ compositions and a post-test interview. With the assistance of SPSS 26,the data from the experiment were analyzed, and some conclusions have been drawn from this research.Firstly, the application of micro lectures could improve students’ ability to use grammar in the context. Many students were willing to spend much more of their free time in reviewing grammar rules. With the application of the new method, the scores in application of grammar knowledge had been significantly improved.Meanwhile, students at different levels could consciously apply these grammar items in their writing to enrich their sentence structure.Besides, students were more motivated and confident in grammar learning, because they realized that micro lectures could help them effectively review and consolidate the grammar items they had newly learned. Some implications can be drawn from the study.First, the theme of the discourses in micro lectures should be the same as that of the unit in the textbook.Second,it is equally essential to choose authentic discourses for setting up the context that is related to students’ daily life. And last, the study proves that micro lecture is an effective way for students at different levels to acquire the grammatical ability.
