The "Shu of Rites and Music in the Palace of Confucius" was written in the 46 th year of Wanli(1618)by Li Zhizao with reference to ancient books and documents such as "Zhou Li","Yi Li","Li Ji","Confucius Family Language","Li Yue Zhi","Queli Zhi","Nan Yong Zhi",and "Hui Dian".The book is composed of ten volumes,including praise and worship in the past dynasties,sacrificial history,memorial ceremonies,music rhythm,silk music,gold sound,song singing,music and dance,and rural archery rituals.This book records various aspects related to the ritual and music of offering sacrifices to Confucius,including etiquette,gifts,ritual utensils,music,musical rhythms,and memorial ceremonies.This book presents the position of musicians and musical instruments during sacrificial ceremonies in a graphical manner,embodying the ritual system of the Ming Dynasty with music.The "Shu of Rites and Music in the Palace of the Ming Dynasty" played a guiding role in the development of the interpretation of memorial rites in the Ming Dynasty.Many of the contents related to sacrificial rites were not included in the "Ming Huidian" and "Nan Yong Zhi" documents.Therefore,it is a good supplement to the sacrificial rites of the Ming Dynasty.This article consists of four chapters.The first part mainly examines Li Zhizao’s biographical history,the background and content of the book,as well as the time of its completion and the circulation of its editions.The second part combs and analyzes the appellation and process of the Shi Dien ceremony in the "Shugong Li Le Shu",and then explores the situation of the Shi Dien ceremony in the Ming Dynasty.The third part analyzes the "music" used in Shi Dien Li recorded in "Shu Gong Li Yue Shu",and combs and analyzes its musical instruments,movements,music placement charts,and scores to explore the musical specifications of Shi Dien Li.The fourth part analyzes the "dance" used in the interpretation of the memorial ceremony recorded in "Shu Gong Li Yue Shu",and discusses the terminology of dance appearance and dance movements through historical materials such as atlases and written scores.This article takes the "Shuo Gong Li Yue Shu" as the research object,while observing the evolution and development of memorial ceremonies from a musical perspective,it discusses the historical position and value judgments of the "Shuo Gong Li Yue Shu" in the Ming and Qing dynasties to worship Confucius,and further explores the important role of music theory,ritual and musical norms,as well as musical instruments and dance forms in contemporary music theory and practice during the Ming Dynasty.
