| Reading plays an important role in English learning.English reading ability is the premise and foundation of English learners’ language development,so in order to promote students’ English learning and learning effect,some new teaching models have been put forward.KWL is a reading teaching model based on schema theory and constructivist learning theory.It is student-oriented.Before reading,students take the initiative to explore what they want to know according to their own needs.Teachers use KWL model to guide students and lead them to construct new knowledge through their existing knowledge and experience.Under the guidance of questions,students can clearly define their learning objectives,and through the communication and cooperation between teachers and students,they can solve problems,gain new knowledge and improve their autonomous learning ability.This paper aims to use KWL model to improve senior high school students’ English reading performance and students’ English autonomous learning ability.Through action research,it answers the following three research questions:1.How to carry out English reading teaching in senior high school based on KWL model?2.What effect does KWL model have on senior high school students’ English reading comprehension?3.What effect does KWL model have on senior high school students’ English autonomous learning ability?This study adopts action research,which is conducted in two rounds.Specific research tools include questionnaires,tests and student reflection logs.The whole teaching process of this action research is student-centered,and the reading class carried out under this mode transforms the students’ learning process from passive to active,and the passive reading task into active exploration process.Based on the statistical discussion of the data collected in this study,we can draw a conclusion: From the comparative data of English reading scores in the two rounds of action research,it can be seen that students’ English reading scores show an obvious upward trend,and the overall English reading scores have improved significantly.It can fully explain that the application of KWL reading mode can effectively promote reading ability and improve students’ reading performance.The results of two questionnaires show that the average scores of the questionnaires after two rounds of action research are significantly different from those before the research,and the scores of the students in this class have increased significantly.Thanks to the development of KWL teaching model,the author witnessed the remarkable progress of the senior high school students in English autonomous learning ability and other aspects,and the application of KWL teaching model in English reading teaching in senior high schools has achieved remarkable results.At the end of the paper,the author expounds the limitations of this study and puts forward some suggestions for future research.This study will verify the effectiveness of KWL in improving senior high school students’ English reading comprehension and improving their autonomous learning ability,and enrich the research field of KWL with senior high school English learners as the research object. |
