A Practice Report On C-E Translation Of Heilongjiang Immigration History In Late Qing Dynasty And Early Republic Of China(Ⅹ)

In the context of globalization,China needs to absorb and learn from the essence of other cultures in the world,and at the same time “go out” to spread and promote the quintessence of its own culture and enhance its cultural confidence.The translator selected Professor Li Peng and et al.’s work Study on the History of Immigrants from Heilongjiang Province in the Late Qing Dynasty and the Early Republic of China(published by Heilongjiang People’s Publishing House,2019),Part X—— Reflections on the History and Culture of “Jews in Harbin”as the source text for translation practice.The total number of words to be translated is 23,044,which can meet the requirements of this translation practice.This translation practice is guided by variational translation theory,aiming to solve the difficulties encountered in the three levels of vocabulary,syntactic,and lexical.At the vocabulary level,the translator flexibly uses the “add,modify,and subtract” method to handle historical,religious,and culturally loaded words appropriately to ensure accurate and objective translation information.At the syntactic level,the translator adjusts sentence structures and forms to achieve concise,smooth,and clear language.At the lexical level,the translator uses the “add and compile” method to edit and organize discourse editing and alignment to ensure that the translated text is more logical and readable.This translation practice adopts a case analysis research method,applying variational translation theory to the translation of immigration historical documents,to convey cultural,background,and ideological connotations and deep meanings of source language as accurately as possible with proper adaptation techniques.The translator hopes that this English translation practice can explore the specific guidance role of variational translation theory in the study of historical textual types,and provide a new extension and enrichment of the application field of variational translation theory.At the same time,this translation can also provide more specific cases and practical experience to promote the perfection and development of this theory.This translation can be a reference for domestic scholars and researchers in relevant fields,while also inspiring more people’s interest in translation and enhancing translation skills,contributing to the promotion of cultural exchange and integration on a global scale.
