| In 2018,the Chinese English Proficiency Level Scale(referred to as the CSE)has released by China,and it was the first English proficiency level assessment standard for English learners.It can not only measure the English proficiency level of learners,but also provide positive help for English teaching.Therefore,this study investigates the current situation of English reading ability of rural senior high school students based on CSE,discusses the problems and causes of rural senior high school students’ English reading comprehension,and then puts forward strategic suggestions for improving students’ English reading ability.This paper uses questionnaire survey methods,test papers,interviews and other research methods,and takes 5 teachers and 200 students from the third year of Gan Qika No.1 Senior High School in Tongliao City as the survey subjects,and mainly answers the following questions:(1)Based on the survey of CSE,what is the level of English reading comprehension of senior three students in rural areas?(2)What are the problems and causes of the English reading comprehension ability of rural high school students?(3)How to improve students’ English reading ability on the basis of CSE?It can be seen that based on the survey of CSE,the English reading comprehension ability of rural high school students has not yet reached the level 4standard of CSE,and is at the level 3 standard.In terms of cognitive ability,students are good at extracting detailed information and summarizing in terms of cognitive ability,but their reasoning and evaluation skills need to be improved.In terms of content structure,students are good at understanding the main idea and understanding the author’s writing intention,but students’ ability to understand the meaning of words is a little weak,and further improvement is needed.The main reasons for the above problems are students’ insufficient vocabulary,single reading skills,lack of reading time,and lack of cultural background knowledge.Finally,the following suggestions are put forward for teachers’ and students’ reading: teachers should strengthen students’ reading skills training and flexibly apply reading strategies;Students should increase their vocabulary and use methods such as timed reading. |
