Non-suicidal self-injury(NSSI)has a significant impact on the physical and mental health of adolescents, and therefore, this topic has received widespread attention from researchers both domestically and internationally.Foreign research has found that the incidence of non-suicidal self-injury is very high,so some Western countries have classified it as a public health and safety event and attach great importance to it.At present, the incidence of non-suicidal self-injury among adolescents in China is higher than that in the West, ranging from 7.9% to 47.38%,which has had many negative effects on their physical and mental health. However, the mechanism and related research on non-suicidal self-injury in China still need to be further enriched, and the non-suicidal self-injury behavior of adolescents should also attract more widespread attention and attention from families and schools.Previous studies have shown that environmental factors are important factors that induce non-suicidal self-injury.Currently,most studies focus on the family environment, but for adolescents, their growth environment has gradually transited from family to school and society, which should not be limited to the related studies of family environment.Negative life events,as the main stressor in adolescents’ living environment, include family, school The correlation between self related stress events and non-suicidal self-injury is also very close. Therefore, this study aims to explore the impact of negative life events on non-suicidal self-injury behavior in adolescents, and further explore its possible mechanisms of action.Emotional and thinking issues are both the main issues in the process of adolescent activity, while current research on non-suicidal self-injury mainly focuses on adolescent aggressive behavior, social and family relationships, and there is less discussion on negative emotions and rumination thinking.Negative life events usually trigger negative emotions in individuals, and individuals with negative emotional experiences have a more severe tendency to ruminate. Both can increase the probability of non-suicidal self-injury behavior in individuals. Therefore,it is inferred that negative emotions and rumination may play a chain mediating role in the relationship between negative life events and non-suicidal self-injury.Based on this, this article conducts further exploration and research. On the one hand, further exploring the predictive role and mechanism of negative life events on non-suicidal self-injury among adolescents can enrich the relevant theories of negative life events and non-suicidal self-injury among adolescents, and can provide data support for subsequent research. On the other hand, the research on the current situation of non-suicidal self-injury can also arouse the understanding and attention of schools, families, and all sectors of society on the issue of non-suicidal self-injury,promote the improvement of the school curriculum system for mental health education, reduce the occurrence of non-suicidal self-injury behaviors, and avoid the occurrence of suicide and other phenomena caused by selfinjury behaviors. It is of great significance for the practical research on intervention of non-suicidal self-injury behaviors,it can promote the development of adolescent mental health.Based on this, this study, based on the theory of experiential avoidance model and general stress model, incorporated negative emotions and ruminating thinking into the study of the relationship between negative life events and non-suicidal selfinjury.A total of 1184 valid subjects were selected and used the "Self rated Life Events Scale for Adolescents" "Negative Emotion Scale" "The Rumination Thinking Scale" and "Non-suicidal Self-Injury Behavior Questionnaire" were used to conduct descriptive statistics, difference analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis on the questionnaire data using SPSS 21.0 to explore the impact of negative life events on non-suicidal self-injury,as well as the mediating and chain mediating role of negative emotions and rumination thinking in the process of negative life events’ impact on non-suicidal self-injury.The specific research results are as follows:(1)The overall detection rate of non-suicidal self-injury behavior is 41.2%,which is at a high level.(2)There are significant differences in the presence or absence of non-suicidal self-injury behaviors among negative life events, negative emotions, and rumination thinking.(3)Negative life events, negative emotions, ruminant thinking, and non-suicidal self-injury have significant differences in gender and other demography variables. There are significant gender differences in negative life events, negative emotions, rumination, and non-suicidal self-injury;Negative life events and non-suicidal selfinjury are significantly different in different family structure;Negative emotions, ruminating thinking, and non-suicidal self-injury are significantly different in different registered residence locations; There are significant differences in negative life events, negative emotions, rumination thinking, and non-suicidal self-injury among different grades.(4)There is a significant pairwise positive correlation between negative life events and non-suicidal self-injury,ruminating thinking, and negative emotions, and there is also a significant pairwise positive correlation between the 12 dimensions of the four variables.(5)Negative life events positively predict the occurrence of non-suicidal selfinjury behaviors.(6)The mediating effect of negative emotions between negative life events and non-suicidal self-injury is significant.(7)Rumination has a significant mediating effect between negative life events and non-suicidal self-injury.(8)Negative emotions and ruminant thinking have a significant chain mediating effect between negative life events and non-suicidal self-injury.
