This paper is the first time to sort out the canonization process of the Origins of Poetry by Ye Xie.It has been more than 300 years since the Origins of Poetry by Ye Xie was written, but how it became a classic has not been discussed so far. Therefore, from the perspective of classicalization, this paper combs the process of "the Origins of Poetry" becoming a classic from its publication in 1686 to now,and further investigates the reasons behind its becoming a classic. This paper consists of six chapters. The first chapter "Introduction" mainly combs and summarizes the universal meaning of the word "classic" in ancient and modern times.Analyze and summarize the academic discussion on the theory of canonization-the factors that play an important role in the process of canonization;Investigate the research status of domestic canonization, canonization of literary theoretical works and canonization of the Origins of Poetry. The second chapter to the fifth chapter expounds the canonization process of the Origins of Poetry in four stages, namely, the pre-canonization period(1686-1780s),the beginning of canonization(1780s-early 20 th century),the construction of canonization(early 20 th century-1980s)and the maturity of canonization(since 1980s).The sixth chapter, combined with the theory of classicalization, deeply digs into the causes behind the original poem becoming a classic. In the aspect of classicalization theory, this paper mainly combs and summarizes the discussion on the issue of "factors that play an important role in the process of classicalization".This paper summarizes about five internal factors that play an important role in the process of canonization mentioned by scholars at present, including richness of connotation, creativity in essence, leap of time and space, infinite readability, aesthetics or artistry; There are about six external factors, including the affirmation of scholars or critics with classic or master status, the teaching of educational institutions from generation to generation, readers’ reading and judgment, official ideology, media and "discovering people".The internal and external factors of each book’s canonization are different. As far as the Origins of Poetry is concerned, there are three internal factors and two external factors. With regard to the canonization process of the Origins of Poetry, this paper holds that during the period from 1686 to 1780 s,The Origins of Poetry only gained limited attention and recognition from Ye Xie’s teachers and friends, disciples and Wuzhong scholars,so this period was the pre-canonization stage of the Origins of Poetry. In the1780 s,the official books Sikuquanshu and Sikuquanshu General Catalogue were completed, and the Origins of Poetry, was concerned and recognized by the two books, which meant that the Origins of Poetry, was recognized by the mainstream culture in the Qing Dynasty. Therefore, the period from the 1780 s to the beginning of the 20 th century(the demise of the Qing Dynasty)was the beginning stage of the classic of the original poem.In 1915,Zeng Yi’s The History of China Literature, the first literary history book focusing on the Origins of Poetry was published, which marked that the Origins of Poetry entered the construction stage of classicalization(early 20 th century-1980s).At this stage, the Origins of Poetry, began to be concerned by literature and history works; In 1979,the first proofreading book appeared-Huo Songlin and others proofread the Origins of Poetry,a gourd ladle of poetic words, saying poetic words;initial research papers have been published one after another; At the same time, the Origins of Poetry also began to attract the attention of Japanese scholar Masako Aoki and Chinese American scholar Liu Ruoyu. In 1985,the first research monograph of the Origins of Poetry,Ye Xie and the Origins of Poetry by Jiang Fan,was published, which marked that the Origins of Poetry entered a mature stage of classicalization(since 1980s).At this stage,High-quality annotations of the Origins of Poetry are published;almost all the more important works on the history of criticism and aesthetics have studied monographs and dissertations, and the number of periodical papers has increased sharply, and the research level ofthe Origins of Poetry has matured. The expansion of the dissemination scope of the Origins of Poetry in the network age.As for the reasons why the Origins of Poetry became a classic, this paper makes an in-depth exploration from two aspects: internal factors and external factors. The internal factor that the Origins of Poetry becomes a classic is its "classicality",which includes three aspects: creativity, modernity and infinite readability.Creativity refers to the innovation and originality of the Origins of Poetry. The epochal nature means that the Origins of Poetry has been passed down since its publication, and its poetic theory conforms to the current mainstream ideology.Infinite readability means that since the publication of the original poem, the relevant research angles have increased day by day;And the focus of the study of the original poem in each era is also different. The external factors that make the Origins of Poetry a classic include the recognition of academic and educational authorities and the influence of western academic system. Most of the literary history works on the Origins of Poetry are written by authoritative scholars in domestic academic circles and used as university textbooks. In the cultural exchange between China and the West, the aesthetic ideas and comparative literature introduced from the West have brought a new research angle to the Origins of Poetry. In a word, this paper is the first time to sort out the classicalization process of the Origins of Poetry since its publication in 1686,and the first time to explore the reasons behind it.
