The language that is currently spoken around the world the most is English. It is crucial for understanding, promoting, and conveying culture as a global lingua franca. However,a great deal of English learners from various backgrounds and native tongues speak English with a strong regional accent, which can often cause communication issues. This report is based on a class interpretation project of Italian Western-style food training, and it examines the characteristics of the accent variants of English used by the Italian foreign teacher,as well as their effects on the interpreter’s listening, memory, and output. The author compares the phonological systems of English and Italian to investigate the similarities and differences between the two phonological systems, while also invoking second language acquisition theories to analyze the accent variation of the Italian foreign teacher as a manifestation of negative native language transfer in the process of English acquisition.Affected by accent variants, the interpreter suffers from misinterpretation, omission and prolonged interpretation due to imbalance of energy allocation._In response to the above problems, the author has adopted effective strategies, including comprehension strategies, such as delaying the comprehension span and intermission of taking notes;preventive strategies, such as summarizing phonetic patterns;reformulation strategies, such as approximation and reasonable omission when interpreting, etc. This report sorts out and clarifies the characteristics of accent variants of the Italian for foreign teacher, the interference produced, etc.,and deepens the study of accent variants.Starting from practical specifics,it provides ideas for other interpreters to deal with different accent variants in practice. It is advantageous to encourage more research on accent variations, the influence they have on interpreters, and improving the quality of language services.
