| As China’s influence in the world continues to expand. As texts with distinctive Chinese characteristics, the content and writing style of China’s political texts are identifiable, and their English translation is closely related to China’s international image,so they are of great research value both from text type and cultural exchanges. And the Research on Social Governance Thought in the New Era by Feng Shizheng is a representative of political texts and the translation report selects the fifth chapter of this book named" Social Governance and Social Vigor" which discusses how to stimulate social vitality from four aspects:the importance of relying on the people for reform, the cultivation and management of social organizations, community governance and construction and improving the people’s sense of fulfillment. It serves as a channel for the foreign countries to understand China deeply. In this translation practice, the translator mainly adopts the Adaptation Theory by Jef Verschueren, based on the linguistic, social and cultural factors of the original text.It focuses on language selection, structural adjustment and cultural adaptation.Besides these,it also solves the difficulties encountered in the translation practice from four aspects:contextual correlates of adaptability, structural objects of adaptability, dynamics of adaptability and salience of the adaptation processes in order to help target readers obtain the same reading experience as readers of the source text.As for the translation report,it aims to help target readers to know China’s policy on social governance and social vigor accurately,so it puts emphasis on expressions with Chinese characteristics,four-character constructions, parallel structures and political metaphors which may cause confusions.Under the guidance of the Adaptation Theory, the translator adopts many translation skills such as amplification, paraphrase, omission. |
