| The concept of instruction-learning-assessment alignment is formally proposed by the English Curriculum Standards for Senior High School(2017),and the English Curriculum Standards for Compulsory Education(2022)emphasizes that assessment should promote teaching and learning. In addition,it should be carried out throughout the teaching and learning process.Classroom assessment directly focuses on the instructional process, assessing students’ learning behaviors, learning styles and learning performance.Reading classroom assessment is an integral part of reading teaching, and it should fully exert the function of monitoring teaching and learning process, providing a basis for further improvement. This study tries to discuss three research questions:(1)Under the guidance of instruction-learning-assessment alignment, what are the impacts of reading classroom assessment on students’reading comprehension ability?(2)How do students at different levels perceive reading classroom assessment activities when adopting instruction-learning-assessment alignment in teaching?(3)What kind of reading classroom assessment activities can better help students’ learning?Action research was conducted in a middle school in Hangzhou, lasting three months. Before the research, based on pretest and pre-questionnaire,research subjects were divided into high-level,intermediate-level and low-level groups for research purposes.During the research, two rounds of reading classroom assessment are carried out, each lasting about five weeks. The second round of action research has made adjustments and improvements based on the classroom observation and student interviews after the first round of action research.By the end of the research, the research subjects completed posttest and post-questionnaire.The data collected was analyzed through SPSS 26.0.The research findings are:(1)Under the principle of instruction-learningassessment alignment, classroom assessment can improve students’ reading comprehension ability, especially the ability of summarizing main idea and understanding specific information.(2)Under the guidance of instruction-learningassessment alignment, reading classroom assessment activities are widely favored by students and have a positive effect on their reading attitude, reading interest and selfassessment, especially intermediate-level students.(3)Personal communication-based assessment is effective in integrating assessment with instructional process, but it is important for teachers to choose appropriate assessment forms and design assessment activities. In order to improve students’ reading ability, and optimize reading experience, the study proposes that the implementation of instruction-learning-assessment alignment is critical. At the same time, teachers should(1)Focus on the constructive nature of assessment, paying attention to students’ dynamic learning process.(2)Pay attention to the design of assessment tasks and criteria before the class, reducing the random assessment in the actual teaching process.(3)Make teaching objectives and assessment criteria clear to students to promote their self-assessment.(4)Make full use of communication-based assessment to promote alignment between assessment and reading instruction. |
