Study On Marriage Customs In Northern Shaanxi In Qing Dynasty

Marriage etiquette and custom,not only contains a certain marriage system and political and cultural concepts,but also reflects the people’s living conditions and marital values,and is also a comprehensive embodiment of social and cultural phenomena,the so-called "rites are lost and seek the field." This paper mainly focuses on the marriage customs of northern Shaanxi in Qing Dynasty,and summarizes the marriage status of northern Shaanxi in Qing Dynasty by sorting out and analyzing the historical materials of marriage recorded in local Chronicles,so as to enrich the understanding of the marriage customs of northern Shaanxi in this period.Firstly,this paper clarifies the basic situation of marriage in northern Shaanxi in Qing Dynasty,including the age of first marriage of men and women and the conditions of marriage in northern Shaanxi in Qing Dynasty,and basically clarifies the basic principles to be followed in the early stage of marriage.Secondly,this paper discusses the situation of marriage customs in northern Shaanxi in the Qing Dynasty,including the basic situation of wedding procedures in northern Shaanxi,as well as the special customs of marriage in northern Shaanxi shown in this procedure,such as not marrying,closing accounts,etc.,which reflects the complexity of marriage in northern Shaanxi in the Qing Dynasty.On this basis,it further discusses the mutual penetration and blending of marriage customs in Northern Shaanxi.That is to say,although the wedding procedure gains or loses with the changes of The Times,due to the stability of cultural inheritance,some of them show and retain their original meaning in the form of folk customs,reflecting the phenomenon of "turning rites into customs";However,some customs,with the changes of The Times,changes in ideas,etc.,have gradually been incorporated into the formal procedure of the wedding,becoming a part of the etiquette,reflecting the representation of "due to custom".Finally,through the analysis of the data,the following characteristics of marriage etiquette and customs in the interaction process are summarized: the prominent concept of marriage chastity,the diversification of marriage forms and the differentiation of marriage regions indicate the complexity of marriage etiquette and customs in northern Shaanxi in the Qing Dynasty.It provides a good reference for us to understand the overall appearance of marriage customs in northern Shaanxi in Qing Dynasty.
