Study On Image Expression Of City Documentary From The Perspective Of Visual Rhetoric

With the accelerated urbanisation process,urban documentary has gradually become an important form of visual expression.By documenting the current situation and history of cities,urban documentaries provide people with a new way of understanding cities by using documentary images to truly reflect urban life,spread urban spirit and construct urban memory.The dissemination of urban documentaries can inspire viewers with a sense of identity and belonging.Visual rhetorical theory is the study of how elements such as language,pictures and sound are used to achieve the best rhetorical effect through rhetorical means.This article uses visual rhetoric theory to analyse the visual expression of urban documentaries,to analyse the inner composition of urban documentaries,to explore how works with profound humanistic connotation and urban spirit are produced,to let people understand the construction of excellent urban documentaries,which is of great help to the quality and connotation of urban documentaries,and to provide some experience for the creation and research of urban documentaries in the future.The first chapter of this paper elaborates on the theoretical connotations of visual rhetoric,identifying the framework of visual rhetorical practice as consisting of rhetorical objects,rhetorical devices and rhetorical effects.Thus,chapters 2,3 and 4 of the article analyse the textual form of the rhetorical object,the rhetorical devices used in urban documentaries and the final rhetorical effect achieved.Specifically,the second chapter analyses the visual and aural texts of urban documentaries and analyses the basic elements of the rhetorical object in urban documentaries.The third chapter analyses which rhetorical devices are used in urban documentaries in terms of rhetorical techniques.This is done by analysing both narrative rhetoric(narrative perspective,narrative structure)and ideational rhetoric(metaphor,metonymy)in urban documentaries,exploring the specific use of visual rhetoric in urban documentaries.The fourth chapter of the article starts with the rhetorical effect,analysing the creative intentions implied behind urban documentaries and the values behind them.The fifth chapter is a summary and reflection on the individual graduation work is a summary and reflection on the creation of the individual graduation work,respectively from the preliminary preparation work,the mid-term shooting process and the post-production video editing,summarising and reflecting on the achievements and shortcomings in these three stages,and providing the corresponding countermeasure analysis.Finally,through the analysis and research of the first five chapters,the article concludes that an excellent urban documentary is more than the mere filming of the city and its characters;the rhetorical elements in urban documentaries,the rhetorical techniques used and the rhetorical effects of emotion,position and identity presented at the end show the subjective consciousness of the creator and even the thinking of the times.
