Taiwan, located in the southeast sea,is connected with the Mainland and has the same root and origin. It is China’s sacred and inalienable territory. As early as ancient times,Taiwan had exchanges with the Mainland, but when the name of Taiwan was recorded in the Mainland’s historical records remains controversial. There are many possible records in history books, such as Daiyu,Dongjing,Iju,Yugu, and Bukgang. In the early Ming Dynasty,Taiwan was called Dongpan, and in the late Ming Dynasty,Taiwan was officially called Taiwan. In the late Ming Dynasty,Taiwan became increasingly important in the East Asian waters.European colonists such as Portugal,Spain and Holland came to the east one after another and fought fiercely for Taiwan. At the same time, the rise of the Chinese pirate forces in the coastal areas of the Mainland also has a close relationship with Taiwan. After the fall of the Ming Dynasty in 1644,the southern Ming regime immediately launched a struggle against the Qing Dynasty. In the process,Zheng Zhilong, the leader of the late Ming pirate group, surrendered to the Qing Dynasty, while his son Zheng Chenggong gathered up the remnants of his army, recruited troops, trained soldiers, and cooperated with other anti-Qing forces to continuously increase his power. However, with the passage of time, the Southern Ming’s anti-Qing struggle gradually declined, and Zheng Chenggong also faced increasing military pressure. In this case,he chose to recover Taiwan from the Dutch colonists as a rely on and retreat from the continued resistance. In the end,the Dutch colonists surrendered, and the Cheng Group took control of Taiwan.Zheng Chenggong’s military struggle to recover Taiwan was a successful attempt by the Chinese nation to oppose foreign aggression. It has safeguarded the interests of the Chinese nation and China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. However, after Zheng Chenggong’s death, the Zheng Group, which was isolated overseas, gradually became a separatist force and a new obstacle to national unification. In order to solve the Taiwan question, the Qing government formulated various strategic implementation plans. There are peace talks to appease the strategy, the strategy of eliminating its Mainland power, the strategy of recruiting its military and people, the strategy of banning the sea and moving the border, etc.,all of which have achieved certain results, but have failed to achieve unification. Finally, the Qing government realized that sufficient military power and force suppression were the fundamental solution to the Taiwan question. Therefore, the Qing government trained a strong naval force, appointed Shi Lang as the commander, and tried to recover Taiwan by force.In1683,Shi Lang led the army to win the Penghu victory, and continued to implement the strategy of peaceful settlement after the military victory. Finally, under the dual role of force and negotiation,Zheng’s group surrendered. The Qing government realized the promotion of peace and unification by force, and organically combined the strategy of peaceful unification and recovery by force. After the reunification of Taiwan, the Qing government implemented the strategy of staying in Taiwan, set up prefectures and counties in Taiwan, and formally incorporated Taiwan into the territory of China. The unification of Taiwan in the Qing Dynasty safeguarded the independence and tranquility of the motherland, strengthened cross-Straits exchanges, and enhanced the cohesion and centripetal force of the Chinese nation.
