Bernard Stiegler is a famous contemporary French thinker. His theory combines the theoretical achievements of multiple disciplines such as philosophy of technology, media theory, art and aesthetics, which makes his media art thoughts present an interdisciplinary attitude.First of all, technology is the basic point of Stigler’s theoretical setting. His "technology" is a generalized concept, and media art forms such as photography and film are the concrete presentation of his technical system in modern society. For Stiegler, media art is both an art form and a form of media(technology). He regards the issue of media art as the object of investigation to map the development of the modern technology system, allowing media(technology)to return to the field of art.Secondly,Stiegler tends to investigate the "gene" of media technology in media art.He focuses on the research on the relationship between the system of media art and the human subject. The relationship between pharmacological treatment and other systems has been deeply considered. In short,Stiegler’s view of media art represents the innovative achievement of the fusion of media and art under the perspective of modern technology. This article mainly discusses Stigler’s media art view from three aspects: First, the generation of Stigler’s media art view is theoretically traced to the source.First of all,the article defines the concept of "media art" and introduces the reasons why Stigler and media art can be combined.Secondly, the contemporary French philosophy of technology,Husserl’s transcendental phenomenology and Heidegger’s existential phenomenology are important theoretical resources for the generation of Stigler’s media art view, and they have influenced Stigler’s thinking on media art to some extent.Secondly, this paper combs and analyzes the media art forms such as photography and film in Stigler’s works, summarizes the core content of his media art view from the dimensions of technology, memory, discourse and redemption, and strives to form a relatively systematic understanding and grasp of Stigler’s media art thought.Thirdly,it analyzes the modern significance and limitation of Stigler’s media art thought, and tries to dialectically clarify and examine Stigler’s media art view.
