Life Events,Personality And BDNF Gene Polymorphisms Of College Students,Depression

The study was undertaken to find out the relationship between life events,personality,BDNF gene polymorphism and depression.It employs the Youth Life Event Scale,the Eisenke Personality Questionnaire and the Flow-modulated Depression Scale to conduct a collective measurement of 531 freshmen in a university.It also employs SNP typing technique to perform the loci of BDNF gene rs6265 polymorphism,rs988748 polymorphism and rs7104207 polymorphism of 129 college students with depression and a control group,182 students with non-depression,to compare the difference of genotype and allele frequency of each gene polymorphism.The findings are as follows:(1)Learning stress and interpersonal relationship are the major life events affecting college students.(2)The detection rate of depression in college students is 25%.(3)The scores of life events,learning stress,interpersonal relationship,punishment,loss,health adaptation,other six factors,the mental quality and neuroticism in the experiment group are higher than those in the control group(p<0.001).(4)The allele frequency of rs988748 polymorphism and rs7104207 polymorphism in the experiment group is significantly lower than that of the control group(p<0.05).(5)Comparison of differences in demographic variables is as follows: first,the mental quality score of male college students is significantly higher than that of female college students(p<0.001)in the comparison of gender differences.Second,the life events and neurotic personality scores of the students of life science college are significantly higher than those of economics and management college students(p<0.05).Third,the score of rs6265 polymorphism allele and rs988748 polymorphism of non-one-child college students was significantly higher than that of the one-child college students(p<0.05).Fourth,the mental quality scores of average-students are significantly higher than those of excellent and good grade students,and the mental quality scores of low-grades are significantly higher than those of excellent,good and average college students,and the neurological scores of low grades are significantly higher than those of excellent,good and average college students.Finally,the life event scores of college students in counties,towns and rural areas are higher than those in cities(p<0.01),and the mental quality scores of college students in counties and towns are significantly higher than those in cities(p<0.05).There are significant differences(p<0.05)between the allele of rs6265 polymorphism,the allele of rs988748 polymorphism and the genotype of rs7104207 polymorphism in different family locations.(6)The study also finds that there is no close relationship between depression and mental quality,loss and mental quality.However,the factors of life events and their total score,mental personality and neurotic personality are correlated with each other;Rs6265polymorphism,rs988748 polymorphism and rs7104207 polymorphism are also correlated with each other(p<0.01).(7)A egression analysis shows that: 1)life events and neuroticism both have positive predictive effects on depression(p<0.01);2)the spirit plays a negative predictive role in college students ’ depression,and the interaction between learning stress,interpersonal relationship,loss,health adaptation,other five factors and mental quality in life events has a positive predictive effect on college students’ depression(p<0.01,p<0.05).3)Life events have positive predictive effect on college students’ depression(p<0.01);The interaction between life events and rs988748 polymorphism has a negative predictive effect on college students’ depression(p<0.05);4)Life events,learning stress,interpersonal relationship,punishment,loss,health adaptation,six other factors can positively predict college students’ depression(p<0.001,p<0.01,p<0.05);rs988748 polymorphism in interpersonal relationships has a positive predictive effect on depression in college students(p<0.05).The interaction between interpersonal factors and rs988748 polymorphism negatively predicts depression(p<0.05)in college students,while rs6265 polymorphism and rs7104207 polymorphism may not be associated with depression.
