A Report On C-E Translation Of Science And Technology Text From The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

With the rapid and continuous development of computer science and technology and increasing exchanges between domestic and foreign research institutions or enterprises,China’s computer technology research is becoming gradually mature,which triggers more and more international attention,and contributes to the unstoppable trend of technology export.However,at present,translation practice in this field is mainly focused on the Chinese-to-English translation of foreign materials.In contrast,the number of relevant technical materials for English translation in China is relatively limited.Moreover,there needs to be more induction and research on the strategies and methods of Chinese-to-English translation of such texts.Therefore,this practical report focuses on the English translation of texts related to the development of computer technology so as to promote the technical level and innovation ability of domestic enterprises.The Skopos theory,a representative theory of the German functional translation school,was chosen as the guiding theory according to the characteristics of the text for this translation task.The theory proposed by Hans Vermeer believes that the translation activity is oriented to its purpose,focusing on the "Skopos." Different translation methods and strategies can be flexibly used by the translator according to the purpose of the text so that the translated text can achieve the purpose of conveying information in the context of the translated language.For this reason,it is very suitable for guiding the translation practice of scientific and technical texts.This report is divided into five chapters,including an overview of tasks and procedures in translation practice,and an analysis of cases in the text supported by the Skopos theory.At the same time,a study of scientific and technical texts is conducted.Using Spring Cloud Microservice Architecture Development Practice(Excerpt)as the material,this paper is a Chinese-to-English translation practice report.It includes the background of the rise of microservice architecture,the core components provided by Spring Cloud for microservice development,and the microservice components and solutions provided by Spring Cloud as the text for translation practice.Study finds that,under the premise of Skopos theory as the guiding theory of translation,to achieve high-quality translation standards,it is necessary to fully integrate the three rules of Skopos theory into the translation of words,sentences and texts with the ultimate goal of conveying the information of the original text.Based on this translation practice,it is proved that the Skopos theory is practical and has a scientific and normative guiding role for the translation of scientific and technical texts.
