| With the rapid development of global medicine and life sciences, the cooperation and exchanges between China and foreign medical careers have become more and more frequent.Medical papers are one of the communication channels of medical information, and cutting-edge medical research achievements can be spread among countries through the publication of papers.China can take this opportunity to learn about foreign treatment concepts and technical experiences, which helps to enhance the professional quality of Chinese medical practitioners and improve the medical level of our country constantly.Medical English translation plays an important role in this process as a bridge, removing language barriers for Chinese medical workers.Faithful and accurate translation can make readers easily obtain the information of the original text.Guided by the functional equivalence theory, this report analyzes the difficulties in the translation process from three perspectives:vocabulary, syntax and text, and provides corresponding solutions with specific examples. At the vocabulary level,to achieve lexical equivalence, the translator used methods such as liberal translation, literal translation, choice of the word mean ing,and part of speech conversion to deal with the large number of terminologies.abbreviations, and noun phrases in the source text.At the syntax level, the difficulty lies in how to handle passive sentences and long sentences. To solve this problem, the translator flexibly used methods such as change of voice, linear translation, inverted translation, separated translation, reduction method, transferred negation based on the semantic meaning of the sentence and the expression habits of Chinese. At the text level,in order to achieve coherence and cohesion, methods such as repetition, addition and omission were used to make the translation logically sound and smoothly flowing. This study finds that functional equivalence theory can provide positive guidance for the translation of pediatric clinical medical literature.According to the basic principles and requirements of functional equivalence theory, flexible selection of various translation methods and techniques can achieve functional and meaningful equivalence between the original text and the target text and improve the quality of the translation. Finally,it is hoped that this report can provide some references for the practice of medical literature translation. |
