A Study On The Classification Of Pottery Decoration At The Chahai Site

The Chaghai site is a Neolithic site in western Liaoning province,and a large number of pottery with decorations have been excavated.However,most of the studies have been conducted on the cultural phases of the site,and a few specialized studies have been conducted to identify the cultural factors of the pottery through the pottery decoration.A few specialized studies have been conducted to identify cultural factors of pottery through pottery decoration.In this paper,we further investigate the development and evolution of pottery decoration at the Chaghai site by analyzing the pottery decoration typology and classifying it with more systematic classification criteria based on the pottery decoration materials reported in the Excavation Report of the Chaghai Neolithic Settlement Site.In view of this,by reading research articles on ornamentation and further summarizing the elements of the ornamentation study,this paper defines all aspects of the research on pottery ornamentation of the Neolithic Age.Based on the archeological method of typology,combined with the theoretical methods of stratigraphy,the pottery ornamentation of the early,middle and late periods of the Zhahai Site is summarized and counted,and the ornamentation of each period is classified respectively.Based on the number and proportion differences of patterns in patterns,techniques and patterns,this paper explores the changes of pottery patterns and patterns in the early,middle and late periods of the Zhahai Site,and finally forms a hierarchical relationship based on five aspects: "function","technique","mode","type" and "pattern",so as to build a classification system of pottery patterns.And this system is used to classify the pottery patterns of Chahai site.Therefore,this paper starts with the classification of pottery patterns at Zhahai Site in the Excavation Report of the Neolithic Settlement Site,and disorganizes and reconstructs it.The patterns of early,middle and late periods of the Zhahai Site are included into the classification system of pottery patterns,so as to clarify the evolution law of the pottery patterns of the Zhahai site in terms of function,pattern pattern and pattern,and verify the applicability of the system and problems that need attention.Finally,based on the reintegration and classification of the Early,Middle and late patterns of the Zhahai site,and based on the classification results of the classification system,the evolution characteristics of the early,middle and late patterns of the Zhahai Site are summarized,and the changes in patterns and patterns in the evolution of the pottery patterns of the Zhahai site are clarified.Finally,through the application of the classification system of pottery ornamentation,the applicability of the classification system is clarified.At the same time,the advantages and disadvantages of the pottery decoration system in the specific application are sorted out,indicating that the system can improve the accuracy and standardization of the classification of pottery decoration,and the feasibility of further discriminating the cultural factors and evolution of the site in the later period.
