As a product of modernization, film is an art form that has a wide influence and is popular with the masses. After the founding of the People’s Republic of China, the central government attached great importance to the development of film industry, seeing it as an important propaganda tool to transform rural society.Film projection teams have been established and developed throughout the country and have become part of rural social life.In the 1960 s and 1970 s,the development of some social and political movements affected the development of domestic literary and art undertakings to a certain extent, and the opinions such as "Great Criticism of literature and art" and "dictatorship of the black line of literature and art" also brought great impact to the film industry. As an important work of literary and artistic undertakings, films during this period were more influenced by the political will of the country, highlighting political ideology. The researches of existing scholars mostly focused on the "politicization" and "revolutionary" influence brought by the film into villages during this period, and paid little attention to the content other than politics and revolution. However, the influence of film on rural society has many aspects. This paper focuses on the period of 1960 s and 1970 s,takes Qingxu County as the research area, and uses the archival data of Qingxu County archives and oral interview data to comprehensively investigate the influence of films on rural society. While focusing on the infiltration and transformation of rural society by national political discourse through film,it also explores the influence of film on rural daily life besides political factors. This is not only reflected in the popularization of scientific knowledge closely related to farmers’ production and life, but also reflected in the fresh cultural and entertainment experience brought to farmers. The article takes the film as the entry point and tries to describe the vivid appearance of the rural social life in this period. The study holds that literature, art, politics and rural society have close interaction with film as the medium.Literature and art are political literature, but not only political literature and art.Projectionist has made an important contribution to the popularity of film in rural society. They traveled on the road, completing screening assignments, and socializing with farmers in the process.Projectionist enjoys a higher social status, but also has an impact on their personal life and family to some extent. Now,the days of projectionist busywork for screenings are a thing of the past, and their screenings are a peculiar memory of that era.Paying attention to living projectionists and hearing their personal stories is of great practical importance.
