Primary school language education is an important teaching subject in the basic education system,and textbooks are one of the main teaching tools and materials in the compulsory education stage.The second section is in the transition stage from "reading pictures" to "reading texts",illustrations,as important educational materials for textbooks,need to assist text learning at this stage,and beautify textbooks,and should not be too prominent to affect the learning process.In the actual investigation,it is found that the current textbook illustrations have problems such as inconsistent drawing style,the degree of graphic and text fit needs to be improved,and the setting arrangement is unreasonable.These problems make it difficult for textbook illustrations to realize the unity of their educational function and aesthetic function in the actual teaching process.At the same time,the development of the times and science and technology has brought about changes in the physical,mental and aesthetic aspects of children and teenagers,and textbooks need to adapt to the development of the times.In this context,this project analyzes the actual needs of children and adolescents,guides the design direction of textbook illustration design,and conducts research on the design of illustrations for the second section of primary school Chinese textbooks.This project adopts the literature analysis method,questionnaire survey method,case analysis method and comparative analysis method,takes the psychological research and design concepts involved in textbook illustration design as the theoretical basis,absorbs the advantages and rich experience of excellent textbook illustration design,and grasps the aesthetic needs of students based on the survey results.Based on the four dimensions of text arrangement,graphic relationship,style color and section division,this project carries out illustration design practice on the cover,table of contents,unit title page,text and exercise part of the textbook,follows the design principle to realize the beauty of the layout design of the textbook,makes the illustration style present oriental aesthetics,uses illustration typesetting to guide the visual process,achieves the purpose of realizing its unique role in each part,gives full play to the educational and aesthetic functions of illustration in textbooks,and realizes the unity of textbook illustration style.As the "second language" of the textbook,illustration assists students in the second section to complete the transition from "reading pictures" to "reading texts",guiding thinking and helping understanding in the learning process,and comprehensively improving students’ core literacy.Looking forward to the future,textbook research will surely keep pace with the times,pay more attention to the study of illustrations in the textbook development process,and realize the design of textbooks oriented towards beauty.
