| As individuals age,they often face physical deterioration,cognitive disorders,depression and isolation,which make them highly dependent and sensitive to their surroundings.Research has found that community humanity environment health has a significant impact on positive emotions and positive behavior in older people,and that the quality of their health and the resulting perceptions of their environment have a profound impact on their mental health,quality of life and perceptions of well-being.Improving the environment of older people’s communities and enhancing their sense of community recognition and belonging are therefore key to improving their sense of well-being and quality of life in later life.This study aims to explore the pathways of the influence of community human environment health on positive emotions and positive behaviors of older people,and to establish a holistic research framework using Healthy aging Theory,Self-determination Theory(SDT)and the Sense of community model of needs and responsibilities,and to investigate the inner mechanism of the role of community human environment health and psychological well-being of older people through a combination of qualitative and quantitative methods,and to obtain the following conclusions:In Study 1,the“Community Humanity Environment Health Questionnaire”was developed through qualitative interviews and two quantitative administrations with 15 older people in the sample community.The 20-item scale consists of five sub-dimensions:age-friendly environment,caring services,appropriate activities,cultural openness and accessibility to health care.The scale has been tested and found to be reliable and valid,and can be used as a valid tool to evaluate the health of the community’s human environment.In Study 2,an empirical survey was conducted on 399 elderly people,and the following research results were obtained:1.The results of correlation analysis showed that community humanity environment health was significantly and positively associated with older adults’sense of community(r=0.513,p<0.01),community involvement(r=0.488,p<0.01)and psychological well-being(r=0.524,p<0.01);2.The results of the regression analysis showed that community humanity environment health,sense of community and community involvement all significantly and positively predicted older people’s psychological well-being,with cultural openness being the strongest predictor among community human environment health(β=0.376,t=7.501***);among community involvement,public service involvement was the strongest predictor(β=0.328,t=6.599***);among sense of community,emotional connection had the strongest predictive effect(β=0.276,t=5.460***);3.The results of the simple mediation effect analysis showed that both sense of community and community participation partially mediated between the health of the community humanity environment health and the psychological well-being of the elderly,with the relative mediation effect of sense of community being 49.09%and the relative mediation effect of community participation being 44.50%;4.The results of the chain mediation test showed that the chain mediation between community humanistic environmental health and the elder’s psychological well-being was established,and the total amount of mediation effect was 62.4%;5.The results of the test of variance showed that there were significant differences in the community humanity environment health in terms of age,length of residence and residential status of older people;in the sense of community in terms of gender and residential status of older people;in community participation in terms of gender,length of residence and residential status of older people;and in psychological well-being in terms of gender,length of residence,residential status and literacy of older people.Based on the above findings,this study proposes the following constructive suggestions on how to enhance the psychological well-being of the elderly at the community level:(1)Emphasize the creation of a healthy community cultural environment,with high-quality aging friendly construction and service quality,a comprehensive and multi-level healthcare system,an open and positive community culture,and a community atmosphere of love and assistance for the elderly,to expand external support for the elderly;(2)Expand channels for elderly participation through multiple approaches,create good opportunities for elderly people to actively participate in community activities and affairs,and promote the emergence of positive behaviors;(3)Pay attention to the multi-level needs of the elderly,enhance their sense of community belonging,consolidate their group identity,and stimulate more positive personal behavior and emotional experiences. |
